The standard of refereeing so far this season has been better than usual - with one notable exception.

Maybe not having home crowds on their backs has helped a few or maybe some better refs have come onto the list. Some are still too tolerant of teams who get in their faces all the time. The carry on after the first sending off last night was ridiculous - and it was the lino who put his foot down for the second sending off after being called a canute by Rooney.

As an ex ref who once got headbutted for applying the laws, it was good to see the assistant do the right thing last night. Too many refs and assistants let players get away with murder when it comes to foul and abusive language. Okay the odd venting off or a bout of frustration can be overlooked, after all its supposed to be a mans game , but calling people bounders and cheats is crossing the line, yet many still choose to either ignore it or haven't the bottle to take action. Typical sort or reaction you would expect from someone called Rooney from a Liverpool council estate. His brother was the same up until his mid twenties.

thought the officials must have been ex poolies. with them in charge of every game pools are getting promoted for sure. the two incidents that happened in the next game might have only warrented yellow cards. seen pools over the years getting a right good kicking off teams with eventual cautions given out about 4 offences too late. last night was far from a dirty stockport performance.

Swings and roundabouts, last night luck was on our side. The worst ref IMO in this league hasn't even officiated at one of our games this season, of course he is equally bad for both teams , but it helps if a club are aware of this before they take the field

Someone ay the club definitely opened the box of Fox's xmas assortment and placed a few on the saucer in the refs changing room. You know the ones with the silver foil around and an orange cream centre.

I thought the first red card was harsh and would have been furious if had been applied to us. If only we had replays on the live steam we could have seen what contact was made. What I thought was interesting was that, for the first time in a long time, our players were all around the ref after the incident. Have we finally woken up to what other teams do all the time? The second red was just a Liverpool scally wanting Christmas off and more time with the family. I always find it amazing how many players seem hell bent on getting sent off just before Christmas.

Have to say, very unusual to see a red card being brandished , for a high foot challenge as early as the 6th minute.

yes, and if that does not come off a mystery illness or accident at home occurs. actually fellow team mates know that certain players will be missing for christmas games just after the season starts. they are rarely wrong.

covid postponements will kick in after Xmas as players mix with family.
Think DC should get them in for training all day on the 25th.

Had a walk along the promenade to Seaton yesterday morning. Funny how when its lashing down, no one seems to no longer want to go out for a walk

A tall athletic young man ran past me with a Pools bobble hat on, never recognised him , but had the look of a footballer. I guess the players would've had the day off after Tuesday nights game , though apparently a few of them went for a dip in the sea with the physio , maybe of their own accord on their day off.

This lad was on his though. If it was a Pools player , it was good to see, shows commitment and professionalism. I reckon it was either Bunney or Sterry.

actually prefer it lashing down when i take my dogs out. you only see the dedicated dog walkers out then with the yakky nuisance ones staying at home with the dog. think lots more players do extra training nowadays than years ago. if you out early and see a player they might have been either coming home from the pub or on their way from someones elses wife.
