Well that was my point. Whether you are or become the best in the league , whether you are already the best team or you become the best team through playing the same team is a matter for debate. Strange how up until recently most clubs, especially successful ones had been playing the same team for over 100 years. Only the league table tells you who is the best, but every manager thinks their team is the best or at least can improve, if they don't then there is something wrong with them. I know the game has changed in recent years, necessitating some would say, rotation etc but has it changed that much? I don't think so, the fundamentals of the game are still the same.

A lot of clubs are suffering this season because of the lack of home crowds, we are one of them. Some clubs have a passionate fanbase that gets them over the line, Burnley, Sheff U, Leeds spring to mind. Whilst Challinors record last season wasnt as good as some make out , the home victories, particularly the ones v Notts Co, Stockport and Aldershot secured by that feel good factor that eminated from the crowd on those days.

Dunno, what seems better to you? Conceding 5 goals in 90 minutes at home to an NL side or 2 in 120 minutes away to a League 2 side?

Challinor is on record a number of times as saying that his preference is a 4-3-3. He explained in his post-match interview why he'd gone for something different against Stockport and what he hoped to achieve. You posted the link to it, so I assume you had a listen?

As the change of formation paid off there's every reason to think he'll stick with it down at County. Personally I don't see it as parking the bus - or chopping and changing for the sake of it either. Any sort of positive result at Meadow Lane would be very welcome.

Neither, both ended in defeat. Though to be fair, Salford may have worked out, if we had been able to put the ball in the net.

I am not really fussed what formation he plays, as I say players 95% of the time win games not tactics.

What really boils my piss, is all this chopping and changing, I bet there are even changes on Boxing Day , my money is on Oates getting benched. At the moment I would just like to see him playing more or less the same starting 11 week in week out. The problem is I don't think he knows who his best 11 are. Personally I think 3 at the back might work at Notts Co , keep it tight and hopefully hit them on the break, though I also think its a game if approached positively , we could go there and score 2 or 3.

for me its always a simple decision. play your best 11 if they are all fully fit and rareing to go. let the opposition worry about you and not obsess on what they do.

Agree. I have never known a club win anything, playing different formations and teams every week. Granted , maybe at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool , Man City etc, but not needed in the NL. How many teams have beat us at the Vic over the years with small squads and teams that pick that themselves?
