Thanks Blue, didnt realise that.

Used to be good at this prediction lark, a former champion on multiple occasions, these days I cant predict a result for toffee.

Unchanged team apparently

0-1
Oates

Shoots from 35 yards out , knocking a star out of the sky in the process, before ball drops behind a surprised Loach who was wondering where the ball went.

Luckily Tony Harrington wasn't reffing this one , so a goal is given

Headline in Mail on Thursday ( Wednesdays paper had already went to print before the game )

OATES THE STAR MAN AS WIN PUTS POOLS INTO ORBIT

Jeff on sky have reported Barnet scored on 88 minutes by a player called Wordsworth and confirmed as full time score. Yet it was 0 0

Pools got on top in the last 20 minutes when Molyneux came into the game. Should be putting the likes of Barnet away though. They were poor for the full 90 minutes.

Basic skill.....passing a football. I'm beginning to think that tier five is full of "footballers" who just fall short of what it takes and our team is full of them.

Can we sign Magliore and Ravas please and keep Ofuso on for 90 mins. Thanks Santa. Tyler M head and shoulders above everyone on the field.

A good point. Barnet had the better chances. It didn’t happen for a lot of the team today. Two unbeaten. Well done lads.

Agree with that. Both him and Magloire are prone to the odd risky pass, but he was sound tonight.

Correct result in a very poor quality game. Neither keeper had a worthwhile shot to save and could have stayed in the dressing room then again so could our three forwards for what they did.
Never mind after two long journeys four points is a decent return.

Well that was a couple of hours out of my life I won't get back.

4 points out of six away is a good return, especially given the travelling distances involved. As usual, though it will look even better if we can back it up with a home win, unfortunately its yet another away game, a 0-0 at Solihull would be a good result.

The problem with our strikers finding the net continues, it doesn't look like this will go away any time soon, with the continued reluctance of DC to give Grey a chance becoming stranger by the game.

The defence though goes from strength to strength, Ferguson I knew would be a success, but Cass gets better by the game, lets hope we can get him permanently , though I doubt it, if he keeps playing well. Johnson is steady away and Magloire hasnt grown into the role, but hit the ground running from the off and has hardly put a foot wrong since he came, surprised more hasn't been said of this to be honest, he has been a great loan signing, despite my initial concerns. Nearly forgot the keeper .Ravas also looks the part in goal.

Apart from the horror show against Torquay when Pools leaked 5 goals, the defence has done well - only 5 more conceded in the other 8 NL games.

So the good news is we're normally hard to beat. Against that, Pools have failed to score in 4 of the last 6 league games. And only 1 of Pools' 12 league goals so far has been scored by a forward.

Before the season started I predicted that Pools would be involved in a lot of low scoring games, as they were for most of Dave Challinor's time in charge last season. But the forwards haven't turned up at all, and it's obvious to all of us fans what their inability to score consistently is going to do to our season. In his post-match interview last night the manager alluded to Parkhouse having off the field problems that might be affecting his game. Mr. Challinor, if he's not able to settle up here arrange for him to go back to his parent club and bang on the Chairman's door for some money to find an effective replacement. You know more than anybody what the consequences will be if Pools continue to drift down the table.

It depends what Parkhouse’s issues are. Might be personal family and nothing he can do about it. DC clearly thinks we haven’t seen the best of him. Hopefully he can come back better in a couple of weeks. The defence coped well last night and Cass and Ferguson got further forward. Magloire used the ball well and Johnson was solid. Holohan didn’t have his best game presumably he didn’t get subbed as he has goals in him. The same could be said for the other 2 midfielders to be fair. Featherstone was decent. Like DC said our fitness was good so we came in to it last 20. Two weeks of shooting practice. Perhaps we can get a coach in to work with them and see how we can make the most of art pieces. What happened to flick ons at the near post?

Glad I was not able to go and see that match in person, definitely time and money saved. Interesting (to me at least) that Barnet managed to get thumped by Woking away but seem to be rubbish and good enough to draw with us. Looking forward to being able to see Pools down here on Dec 12 - another long trip for the team though. I reckon Barnet definitely benefited from the postponements. Hopefully we'll benefit from not having a Saturday fixture.

totally agree with all that. withot a goal from holohan and molyneux its going to be hartlepool nil every week. those two are the only ones likely to reach double figures in league goals scored in the whole squad.

Parkhouse is a strange one, was unlucky that he missed a couple of games due to internationals, games we won , games where he could've possibly cemented his place in the side with a goal or two. Since then he has either started and been brought off or been brought on as a sub. The only full game he has played was v Torquay, strange he wasn't subbed in that one.

The sad truth is , at the moment we have a top 8 defence, a mid table midfield, largely down to Featherstones consistency and Holohans goalscoring threat, though I think a better no 10 is needed if we are to be serious promotion contenders, and at the moment a bottom 8 forward line.

and next season with the usual non league comings and goings we,ll end up a good scoring club with attack minded mid fielders but a bad defence. unless we are lucky or get some money pools like a few others will always be a couple of players short.

Bottom 8 I think you are being very kind. This forward line wouldn’t look out of place two leagues lower. It will cost us as we continue to slip down the league.

Thats about the sum of it, always a balancing act, we will release Bloomfield, Oates and Ofusu and bring in three more of the same type of player for buttons
