Piss poor in front of goal again. I can't see where we are going to get goals from out of any of our so called forwards.

I have seen worse to be fair. We can probably count ourselves a bit unlucky on this occasion , but this is what happens when you are on a bad run of form. Wrexham to their credit played well in a typical dig your heels in away performance kind of way, and their goal was a peach, lovely ball from the defender at the back.

Its not just our forwards , our midfielders can't hit a cows arse with a banjo either, and our defenders will rarely score with headers from set pieces. The only thing we can hope for at the moment, is the rub of the green, that some of those missed chances on Tuesday, such as the ones that shaved the post etc , on another day would sneak in. This can't be relied on to happen every game of course, but will get us the odd win now and again, which of course isn't good enough.

its obvious pools will score and win a game sooner rather than later. what is more important is the couple of games after the win which will show fans whether the win has given players confidence or was just a flash in the pan result.

To achieve success in any league. at some point a team needs to win 7 or 8 on the spin or go unbeaten for 15 or 16. Cant see this happening in a million years at the moment.

not necessary really. i always split the season up into groups of 6 games. gaining 12 points from each 6 would see you over the line. this season the first 6 gave us that but we need a good run now to catch up a bit.

We have won once at home in five and that was lucky, that is relegation form. If the confidence goes away from home we really are in the mire. Luckily we play Yeovil a team we normally do well against next, what could possibly go wrong?

Yes, these next two away games are crucial. If we lose at Yeovil , the Barnet game becomes what I usually term as a sacking game, where a heavy defeat or a defeat where the players body language or discipline is called into question could lead to a manager losing his job. Too early for this to happen , but Singh is a man who goes for his gun too quickly and anything could happen, so lets hope DC turns things around and we get a decent result firstly at Yeovil and then hopefully followed up again at Barnet. It won't be easy in the circumstances, travel and all that , the manager is really up against it.

We've been down in this league now for a few years and we havent had a striker to put the ball in the back of the net, or a midfielder to bust a gut and drive us forward, get on the end of crosses and win us a game.

Starting to believe this summers recruitment was really poor.

On reflection it was, it seemed poor at the time but even worse now. Some steady signings such as Shelton and Odusina, but many that raised eyebrows and had question marks against them, such as Ofusu, Liddle, Bloomfield and Oates.

There wasn't one signing that made you think WOW !

We needed to sign a proven striker this season and we will rue the day we never.

I’d like to see Bloomfield and Oates up top together for a few games. We’ve goals in midfield to play off them If we can hold the ball up the pitch. Signs of a decent touch from Bloomfield.

In reference to the midfield - we have a goalscoring midfielder in Holohan who has stats that would blow a lot of the league midfielders out the water.

If he can land a partnership that works, there's still a very long way to go. All is not lost as yet.

Issue is though - what we need and what we CAN are two separate things. We possibly won't rue the day we didn't, because we were probably always going to have to roll the dice on someone joining either on loan or permanently that somehow paid off.

Looks like we had plenty of chances to score but no one could put it in the onion bag.
No need to panic I think.
But I really don't think our chances of promotion are good.

I, too, always fancy Holohan for a goal but I think we lack guile in midfield in addition to the striker issue. It often sounds like we are trying to walk the ball in to the net. When teams are defending on the edge of their penalty area, surely it must be worth a shot or three that could result in a deflection, goalkeeper error etc. . I have thought this about Pools for years but have no knowledge as to the instructions they are playing under.

True enough ! It's always difficult attracting someone here in the first place, regardless of everything else. Challinor just needs to get the best out of what he's got, something I think he isn't doing, I just worry that heads might start dropping soon.

forget the torquay game. apart from that pools make occasional defensive mistakes that all teams do. the play is generally fine until they reach the opposition penalty area where everything just seems to fall apart. poor crosses, players taking at least one touch too many, plenty of shots that are very tame to say the least. just too much reliance on mid fielders actually doing all the goal scoring. its back again to how can any manager actually make things better with whats at his disposal. i really doubt any of pools strikers would get a lookin at any other team in our league. they,d walk into any the division lower which is no fault of theirs. its just their standard and thats it.

As Horden says about the signings two out of six is what I keeping repeating is about the average of successes you can expect from our standard of ‘frees’. The signing of Oats didn’t raise my eyebrows it stuck in my throat.
