She wasn't exactly much to look at even then. IMO. Some women do get better with age, Carol Vorderman, Shania Twain ( She was nice anyway) come to mind.

mind you some women like that have had more plastic surgery and filler on their face than a 1960,s vauxhall victor. there,s aging well and having a complete different face with no similarity to their featues 30 years before.

Your mention of the vauxhall victor brings back memories, what a rot box that was.

was knicknamed by some of us the P40 model named after isopon filler. knew a dealer who had a 12 month year old one who actually put a dent in it whilst resting an elbow on it whilst talking. on a more serious note an ex fiancee,s sister was killed in one on holiday whilst her and her parents all received some scars due to the accident with her mother being quite bad. did a bit of buying and selling cars at the time and brought one of the few survivers left to her house. she absolutely freaked out on seeing this car as i knew about the accident but not the type of vehicle they were in.

I had one years ago and one windy winter late at night driving up the M6 the vinyl roof cover tore off the roof with a helluva bang. I thought someone had jumped off a motorway bridge and landed on the roof.

Then some of the strips of vinyl that were still attached started knocking on the roof. I was convinced that there was someone up there telling me to stop. So I pulled over onto the hard shoulder, very gradually in case he fell off!

Felt a bit stupid/relieved when I saw what had happened.

Looked pretty much like this one. When the engine got hot the (mechanical) petrol pump level arm expanded and the fork connection slipped out.
Car stopped.
Cool down started again.
Took me ages to work it out what was going on.
The solution was squeezing/bending the level arm with a pair of pliers.

I can't take the plaudits for that one, Mr I, I'm afraid. It was the missus who spotted my screen and got it almost immediately although she couldn't initially recall her name.

That sort of image always reminds me of "Ripples" by Genesis and the elderly woman looking into a mirror and seeing the reflection of an attractive young girl staring back at her, a reminder that youth is over all too quickly and we all have to move on.

All very sad, really.

Of course, speaking as a latter-day Adonis myself .........

remember seeing her with her old man over 30 years ago going into rugby railway station in the mornings. she actually looked quite ordinary then and does seem to have improved with age. could be all the telly slap she is using.

A Trick Of The tail, you've taken me back!! It was the first LP I ever bought. I got it in a shop in Guildford in 76 and it cost £2.20. Ripples is a beautiful song.

I agree with your comment, Infidel. I know that Genesis aren't to everyone's liking, however, but I generally prefer their earlier stuff.

We used to have a market stall below the Underground railway arches which bought and sold second-hand singles, LP's and tapes before they progressed to a shop in the High Street. I spent many a Saturday morning sifting through their stock and assisting their cash flow.

I later discovered a little second-hand music shop in a side street at the bottom of Shaftesbury Avenue which, I believe, was called Cheapo, Cheapo Records? They had an amazing selection of LP's etc. in excellent condition which could be picked up for £1 - £2.
