Look North have just said that the Kick Off is 12.20 but it still says 3 on the BBC Website. Can anybody confirm the correct time. Would hate to tune in at 3 and find I have missed out.

Up for the cup.

0-1 to us.

Williams from the physio table.

Look North have confused a lot of people with the 12.20 ko statement. Where did that come from?

Just think its the weather, and camera gantry probably exposed to the elements. So far so good. All you can do in these situations is get through to next round and do it professionally, so far that looks the case. Think Molyneux has answered any doubts about his ability. Think him , Grey need to be in our front 3 . with Parkhouse and Bloomfield battling it out for the targetman position.

We look great going forward, and well pleased with the score, but would rather have Odusina in than Liddle, too lightweight and has already gifted them two chances from sloppy back passes, better teams will punish us for that.

I agree. Any time who wants to beat us , need to get up close and personal, like Bromley did. Looks like teams who keep their distance and let us play, we will just dance straight through them.

Not forgetting Ilkeston look like a team 3 leagues below us. I think we have already arranged a pre-season friendly with them.

Liddle had a good game apart from that scuffed back pass at the end of the first half. Nearly all Ilkeston's chances came down the right hand side - half the time Ferguson wasn't even in camera shot when their number 7 broke away. Ferguson is a very good attacking full back but playing him that far forward is asking a lot of only 2 centre backs - be interesting to see what the formation is when Pools play down at Torquay next Saturday.

6 goals, 6 scorers - Ilkeston kept scrapping but it was like pre-season all over again.

I am happy with a good win that showed that our attack can outclass an 8th tier defence. What was not so good was the Ilkeston threat down our left flank. Better teams will exploit that weakness.
Featherstone must learn to how to head a football offensively. Ballooning the ball upwards in defence is ok but goalbound efforts should be level or downwards and the first half miss was poor by any standards. Pity he didn't have a schoolteacher like Joe Burrows at Lauder Street who taught the basics well.
Bloomfield's finishing left something to be desired but he has the physique and presence to counter the sort of physical defenders we encounter in the NL.

His header back to the keeper which was nowhere near him nearly let them in too..

I was never a Featherstone fan but last season he was my player of the year and he has continued that form this season. Ok his heading is not that good but don’t forget he’s not the tallest.

Featherstone had some critics last season.

Overweight n that.

BBC cameraman zoomed into him today n he looked like a pure athlete.

Fairplay to him n DC .

The season is young but so far so good

Just about every player has critics and I admit I was one of Featherstone in fact I was disappointed each time he was retained but there is no doubt that imo he’s been Pools best player lately. Some people just won’t give credit when it’s due.

Great result, excellent professional performance. A lot of boxes ticked yesterday, with players getting their first real game time, some also chipping in with goals, others getting a rest.. A great goal from Parkhouse. If I wanted to be picky, still a couple of concerns that a better opposition may have capitalised on, but all in all , a very good day at the office, that sets us up nicely for two home games coming up. For the first time this season I started to doubt my early scepticism about this season, the cluster of what look on paper difficult fixtures coming up in November should answer a lot of questions and tell us how far we really have come. For now though I am just going to enjoy the moment.

If he still hasnt won over his critics by now, he never will. Featherstone has been at it , for at least 18 months now, much fitter and a better player, he just needs a Mark Tinkler style midfielder alongside to compliment him , that would make the team look better as a unit, but individually Featherstone now one of the better midfielders in this division, whereas a couple of seasons ago, I wouldve had him around mid table. All credit to him for turning it around and winning over most of his critics.

yes, he has improved out of all recognition since the arrival of challinor at the club. might be a coincidence but its the first time he,s been in a good pools side since he arrived at the vic. could also be the type of player that looks good in a good team but totally opposite in a bad one. he,s not alone in this.

Dave Challinor is a top manager at National League level and you have to take your hat off to Raj Singh (and likely the unlamented Mark Maguire as well) for grabbing the opportunity to bring him to Pools. His team knows exactly how they're expected to play and the way they attack at speed and in numbers at every opportunity is something I haven't seen in a Pools side in a long, long time. Challinor doesn't have a striker who's the finished article, but his team makes so many chances in a game that the goals will come from somewhere more often than not.

You'd like to think that with the cost savings made on the non-playing side, the season ticket money banked, £95k a month from the NL and the extra revenue opportunities that a winning team can generate, there's enough cash flow to keep the show on the road through the winter. Barring another cash crisis, I think Pools will definitely be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. It's still a bloody hard division to get out of!

The negative for me is these constant short corners. Its good to have them as an option but most times it doesn't end up with a ball going into the box and is very predictable for the opposition.

In his Poolsworld interview a few weeks ago, Featherstone claimed it was partly due to a better diet - so why haven't the previous management sorted that out ?

I'm a realist, I dream the impossible, but don't expect it to happen.

A sceptic is person inclined to question or doubt accepted opinions , I sometimes do that as well.
