Apologies in advance for the silly kid on the commentary. Hate it when commentators raise their voice and become hysterical when their team gets the ball on the edge of the opponents box, like that daft bounder who commentates on the Boro games.

Sadly this seems to be the norm with home commentators these days. Who can ever forget Alaister Brownless with Boro games they all seem to have followed his style on Tees.

Great start to the season. Great support from the chairman, great effort from the manager and players, great to have Stelling involved. Loved the commentary. Knowledgable and passionate. Hopefully we can keep it together and there is more excitable commentary tomorrow. Give you two something else to moan about as folk will always find something. Up the pools. When things aren’t going so well hopefully the supporters will be back to lift the team.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the commentary, at all. Any need to call him a silly kid? He’s doing a great job having been thrown in at the deep end and probably for nothing or next to nothing. A pointless dig at somebody for the sake of needing to say something negative.

I think the lad on the commentary is doing well to be fair. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting a bit excited, particularly when there's no fans in to generate an atmosphere in the background. It's a role you've got to learn on the job as well.

I've got to say the Maidenhead commentators were superb though. Even if I did get a bit concerned for their welfare when they said "Who'd have thought we'd be playing Notts County, Wrexham and Hartlepool in a league season, you have to pinch yourself sometimes".

I guess we're just massive.

Its not like Simmo ever got over-excited when commentating! They are doing very much better than I expected.

Alex is having to learn on the job and this commentary was better than the first one in the home game against Aldershot.

For the future him and Jeff's lad (who was also canny) just need to bear in mind that it's not necessary to fill up every available second with talking - take a leaf out of the the best TV sports commentators' book.

He wasnt thrown in the deep end at all , he volunteered to do it, may I add at the same time as a full time employee doing the same job lost his job. it wasn't a dig, it was a criticism , something I hope he will look at and learn from, its only negative in your eyes.

Put that in your bagpipes

Simmo improved over the years, so will this lad. I think Simmo got it just about right, I wouldnt want a Wolstenholmesque type commentator , just think there is a lot of uneccesary exuberance shown at times , that may appeal to a certain audience but not a cross section. i don't like it, some obviously do, I'm hoping he will tone it down as he learns the job and develops, other than that I'm sure he will do very well and become one day the finished article like Simmo.

Fair comment ! I noticed they were talking over each other a lot. It is at the moment as though the kids have got the keys to the tuck shop, but they will improve as time goes on.

Good result for any team expecting to be up there near the top, shows how unpredictable this league is, hopefully Bromley tonight dont give us another example

And Chesterfield beat Woking (who had won their 2 previous games) 4-0 on Saturday. So another way of looking at these results is that Pools haven't beaten 3 poor sides who are going to struggle after all. ;)

There's a long, long way to go, and a lot of managers will be setting out their sides to frustrate Pools - was going to say 'especially at the Vic' but does home advantage matter that much any more? At any rate, Pools have struggled in recent years against teams that put 10 men behind the ball, so it's encouraging to have a few of players who can go past their man (Ofosu, Grey) and that we seem to have finally got some goal threat with corners and crosses.

Whilst I agree with most of what you have to say about us offensively , we still have a poor keeper who hasnt yet been really tested, a midfield that lacks a tough tackling ball winner ( though in todays game you may be able to get away with that ) and strikers who look as though they are going to struggle to get goals. The only saving grace is, looking around the division, no other team looks complete either, Solihulll the possible exception , so maybe even with our deficiencies we should thanks to having what look like the two best full backs in the division and a decent midfield containing Holohan who should 15 goals , everything points to us being there or thereabouts , although I think the lack of a top class striker will ultimately cost us, should we even get to the play offs.

Who needs a striker when you've got Ryan Johnson?

Top class strikers are like gold. Everyone wants one, there again has anyone in our league got one?

I wouldn't bet against John Rooney at Stockport ending up as the NL's leading scorer, even though he's a midfielder!
27 league goals for Barrow last season and 2 already for County this.

John Rooney - Stockport
Adam Rooney - Solihull
Paul McCallum - Dagenham
