Following on from the efforts of Mr I way back in 2015 I understand that HUST and HUSA have done whatever is necessary to have Victoria Park and the associated area surrounding the stadium re-designated as an ‘asset of community value’ (ACV) by Hartlepool Borough Council.

I can't remember what happened yesterday let alone way back in 2015 and so it is good to know that the volunteers behind HUST and HUSA are looking after matters like this - thanks guys and girls.

The new ACV listing will remain in place until September 2025 and sort of safeguards The Vic from scallies for at least another five years.

While an ACV in practise has limited protection it does provide valuable insight into any prospective sale of The Vic and would offer the groups representing fans (like HUST and HUSA) some time before any sale was concluded to review that sale and where necessary/ if possible to look to table a rival bid to purchase the asset from Hartlepool Borough Council.

I vaguely remember that it had a five year shelf life so I guess it’s just been renewed.

It's not a protection order, its an early warning system.

Just slows the process down, allowing the underdog time to get organised and fight back. Money as always though, usually wins the day

The general idea was that in the event of someone having a bid accepted the ACV gave the Trust time to marshall its forces and generate funds through a community share issue.
