Good interview but at end of the day it's a results business.

These 2 golden tickets should mean if u got plenty of good mates who r ST holders u can watch pools for free.

Thanks for the link, worked fine for me.

My takeaways -
Jesper was in touch with Raj before the lockdown. He is still acting CEO because Raj isn't ready to commit to a full-time post while so much is still up in the air with Covid.
Pools have sold most of the initial 1,000 season tickets - that's the money they're using to get ready for the season. He was very vague when asked about refunds if the new season is also disrupted by Covid!
He wasn't asked about progress with sponsorships and commercial income and didn't offer anything off his own bat.
He's in favour of 'fan participation' but not fan ownership. Said he has doubts that fan-owned clubs are sustainable in the long run.
He reminded us that ground capacity for 2020/21 will ultimately set by Hartlepool Council when they issue safety certification for the Vic.

Hartlepool Council will probably put a limit on ground capacity of 350 or something overly ridiculous like that knowing them. I mean if you have a family group of 4 can they all sit together?, and if you have 4 friends who are not in a bubble do they have to sit/stand 2 metres apart?, if they can get that close to each other that is. Wouldn't like to be the last one in the ground...."you'll have to stand over in the corner next to the floodlights mate" :?

Presumably he’s never heard of Wycombe, Exeter or all but one of the Bundesliga. All clubs in Brazil and Argentina. Barcelona, Dundee United, all premier clubs in Ireland. Real Madrid, Athletico Bilbao. All clubs in Sweden. Most US clubs, all in Uruguay and not forgetting Chester.

More relevantly, Darlington have performed far better than Pools in recent years, if they owned a ground they would be above us.

Fair point Mr I. What he should've said is fan ownership wouldn't work at Pools, in that case he would be correct , not that he would know why it wouldn't work, not at this stage anyway.

As far as the councils are concerned, there is absolutely no question that Pools would not exist if it weren’t for HBC. They gave Pools £10’000 back in the 70’s by buying the ground when it was worthless and rented it back to the club on an absolute peppercorn rent that continues to this day. That ground is still costing Pools only £1500 a month.

Their foresight in not selling to IOR without lots of restrictions meant that they retained ownership when most, myself included advocated selling. Add to that they approved the protection order (ACV). Together, this stopped Coxberg either selling to developers or taking a huge loan secured by the ground.

This is the difference between us and Darlo. Had Darlo not had to groundshare miles away and paid through the nose for the privilege, I’m sure they would have caught us up by now and most likely overtaken us.

Spot on about the council always riding to Pools rescue , which in my view a local council should. I was one of the few who didnt want the council to sell to IOR. People bang on about the great IOR , but they never left a legacy as far as the ground is concerned , unlike other clubs like Tranmere, Stockport , Wycombe, Exeter etc , who managed during succesful periods to somehow build new stands etc. I believe an all singing all dancing council owned community stadium is still the best way forward for Pools, such as those built at Doncaster , Chesterfield etc. That should've happened during the mad debt fuelled noughties , but with hard times ahead forecast that ship has probably sailed now.

Let's hope it always remains in the hands of the council.
Football club owners constantly change and anyone could get their hands on it.
Waitress anyone..............

as long as there is something actually written in stone what they as owners could ever do with the vic. could they sell the vic to someone else and replace it with some flat pack affair miles out of town. york city come quickly to mind.

The problem with restrictive covenants is that clever lawyers can always find a way round them. As long as it’s council owned the owner cannot sell or mortgage it. Anyway, why should an owner with genuine intentions have a problem about paying rent for the cheapest football stadium in the country.

Yes agree entirely. Anyone who sniffs around the ground is up to something. This fact seems to be lost on some people.
