Macclesfield Town stay up and Stevenage relegated to The National League despite Town being docked a further 2 points and fined £20,000 with legal costs and 4 points deduction suspended. Not good from Pools point of view (travel). Any thoughts anybody?

Or should I say Macclesfield Town saved and Stevenage's future undecided. Sorry for confusion people. This was breaking news on BBC football. Apologies for misleading.

just shows what a pointless exercise a lot of these points deductions actually are. its hardly affected macclesfield whatsoever in their league campaign. giving em a fine isn,t much use as i doubt they can pay it if they cannot pay wages. no love for stevenage but for me its about time macclesfield were put out of their misery.

This level football must be regionalised. How many season tickets will we sell next year? 2200 to 2400 my guess.
Clubs going bust squads of 17 players?
It's going to be shit.

It is shit, you mean its going to get worse. The only way out of this, is get back into the FL , regionalisation won't make it any better , apart from getting home quicker after the shit.

I mean league 2 and possibly 1 as well. There are so many clubs that are going to go bust. Just think of the people around you at matches a lot won't be able to attend due to underlying medical condition and age. For all the hype it ain't going to get back to normal for years. This virus ain't going away soon.

all this gloom and doom about clubs going bust may have less factual and more of a bucket rattling exercise by clubs around it. every season theres on club or another where you think, how can they carry on. if bury start next season in a pheonix form then since WW2 only two clubs have been lost. new brighton and accrington. even the latter came back after about 8 years. as for fans missing, this has gone on since football first started. we are all getting older and there is going to be some date in the future where we will all stop going virus or no virus. yes the virus in not going away. just like loads of other illnesses that will finish us off one day or another. concentration of just one illness is a detriment to all other ones which has been proved in the last number of weeks.

I thought after I posted that maybe that is what you were thinking. I cant see that happening to be honest. We need to be focussed on getting back into the FL as things stand , if its regionalised by the time we get there , then all the better.

There may well be a re-alignment of football within the next 5 years , that may not be a bad thing. Like every other business, its the ones that weren't well run before the virus that will be the first to go , that's why I fear for HUFC. Some clubs , those that were well run , could come out of this even better , making it even harder for us to compete , that's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. We need to get our act together now more than ever , with the current chairman I honestly cant see that happening.

unfortunetly football is not like every other business. apart from a handful of clubs they are either at the best 1,000,s of pounds in debt or millions. finding well run debt free clubs is harder than a drive through north yorkshire without seeing a speed camera van.

The team that went up, Barrow and the team most likely Harrogate would be in dreamland with average gates of 2400.
I was at Barrow last September and less than a 1000 home fans, Harrogate had a ‘crowd’ of 700 odd, didn’t stop either of them.

harrogate do not actually need big gates as they have a wealthy backer. if he walked away they would soon be back where they came from. apart from FGR at nailsworth, harrogate must be one of the last places where you could imagine proffesional football being played never mind having an EFL club there. imagine there are plenty of residents of the town dislike them with the ground being in its present position and those nasty football types walking up from their town to the ground.

Lots of things are just unsustainable at this level and probably L2. Clubs can't afford all the travelling, hotels, food and on the road training facilities. Looking at the way we seem to be signing players - based on price, its hard to see Pools challenging for anything near promotion. I fear that one day in the not too distant we will aspire to get into the National league.

anything is possible even at pools. they could actually do a macclesfield and gain promotion by assembling just a good team without any star individuals in it and done of a low budget as well. the last few years at macclesfield shows you need more than a slice of luck to gain promotion and then manage to stay up as well keeping your league place.
