I have no idea what these 'football lads' are planning but I have seen a lot of activity on military forums and the overriding message is that 'we're there to defend, not to attack'. There will indeed be a large military presence in London and elsewhere tomorrow and strategically placed to defend memorials and statues. They are not there looking for trouble but will not stand by and allow the Cenotaph to be defaced again.

Is there even a black lives matter protest planned for this weekend? And if there is why would they target the Cenotaph when it has plenty of black people on it. It was only one arsehole who sprayed on the Cenotaph and I don't think it will need defending but I'm sure everybody involved knows that really. You might want to keep an eye on Thatcher though, dangerous times for a statue of an apartheid lover who said we were being swamped.

Ironically there is a large contingent of black and Sikh veterans attending at the weekend. It really isn't a far right thing its simply vets that won't stand by and let our monuments be destroyed.

I was meant to be jokey but where will this end? Drake in Plymouth is apparently threatened along with others who are not as well known to me. And what happens in football if it ever starts again? Black power salutes and kneeling at certain times during a game? Obligatory positive discrimination in all teams? It makes me think back to the days in the 1970s when Leyton O fielded a team with as many if not more black than white players who basically represented the area of London they came from. Yes, there was racist abuse with Pools fans back then probably amongst the worst of offenders but all credit to those lads who had a point to prove and quite often did on the field to silence the racists and bigots. Now if anyone on here is old enough to remember the West Ham United of the 1960s well they were up there with the racist bit with Milwall but they had such great players as Clyde Best. This racism thing is only to be stamped out by education. With one or two exceptions The Vic of last year was nowhere near to the venom shown back in the 1970s. One of my particular footie heroes from back then was the great full back George Berry who played for Wolves and had an afro that would fill The Rink End. Coming forward a bit to 2009 when my son went to Afghanistan for his second tour with 1 Rifles they had at least half a dozen Fijiians, a few lads from The Carribean, a white South African and an American (although I don't know how me managed to serve in The British Army, but there we are). Chuck in a few Nepalese lads from other units who are better known as Ghurkhas and that was quite a mix. They never had any major problems. Lads from all over the Commonwealth gave their lives in that last big conflict but also in The Gulf and Afghanistan and in my mind their memories are sullied by attacks on Churchill's statue and The Cenotaph. Sorry this post has got a bit mixed up but I reckon fair minded Poolies on here will hear and understand what I am saying. One last thing...The now retired ref Uriah Rennie by far away my favourite ref apart from Colina. The man was not everyone's cup of tea but I thought he was fair and always gave a sign to the crowd of his decision. I would have loved to have seen a few more like him especially in this National League.

As I've mentioned before my wife and daughter are well into girlguiding and run two brownie packs and one guide pack, totalling over 70 girls and they are members of girlguiding forums and I can tell you there is hell on over this.
Scouts alone there are currently over 54 million worldwide and adding all the scouts, guides, cubs, brownies etc that have been in the movement since 1910, when it all started the total runs into billions.
I can also tell you that the meetings Baden Powell had with the Nazis were in 1934 when the Nazis were creating the Hitler Youth and wanted BP's backing. He told them to piss off using our vernacular. They told him at that time if he ever entered Germany again he would be shot and in 1940 the Nazis put him on a list of prominent Brits that were to be exterminated as soon as they (the nazis) invaded our shores.

There was talk at one time of demolishing Baden Street due to tenant problems.

Now it's Penny Lane references in Liverpool defaced and even the first black guy in Bristol to have a statue. I wondered when this madness would reach my end of the woods down here in Cornwall. And I see Churchill's statue is now boarded up and boards have gone up at the base of The Cenotaph.

It's an utter disgrace that we should have to protest the Cenotaph and Churchill. I see Boris has finally begun to sprout a pair this morning. He's been missing in action up to now - very disappointed in him over this. The lady would never have stood for it.
