The doors to the UK haven't been closed that is why we have the worst death rate per capita in the World.

Now they have beaten their 100,000 tests target ( even though they cheated by sending a large amount out by post , done in such a hurry I believe some didn't even have a return address label included ) the script is written.

Now preparing to end the lockdown & social distancing., that wasn't really rigorously enforced in the first place.

Johnson has said the 26th May and going on what I witnessed yesterday , it seems like many people see that as a green light to start easing the lockdown immediately.

Lets see how they handle this , with a load of half baked , dim witted ideas no doubt , such as staying 1m apart rather than 2m , football games at neutral venues away from built up areas , kids going to school on different days etc etc

Personally I would've given it another month , but they really need to tighten up the lockdown that is supposedly already in place, even if it is only until the 25th May.

Anyone know what the testing figure was yesterday? After the mariachi band announcement over hannibal's 100k target lie, yesterday's number was strangely missing , unless I missed it.

I assume they didnt send out another 50k in the post yesterday.

Corrupt lying murdering government.

Doesn't matter , it would've been even less with Corbyn and Abbot in charge , anyway Wales ran by Labour only tested 2000 and Scotland ran by the SNP only tested 3500 , that's all that matters :animals-dogrun:

agree about the extra month, but i do think the majority of folk have respected the lockdown. when it was first put out i doubt even johnson would have expected a 100 per cent complyance of it. same with any rule or law otherwise we would never need a police force to make sure laws are not broken.

Its a plan at least , ours due out this week, hopefully something similar. Of course the million dollar question , that no one can really answer is whether the timescale will prove to be correct. I suppose whenever a government decides to ease restrictions and how they decide to do that over the next 1-4 months , will involve an element of risk. Like at the start , the death rate stats will ascertain who got it right and who got it wrong.

Listening to that medical expert on the press conference yesterday was bizarre.

It seems pubs and sports events will probably kill you if you go to them. Yet using the tube for 40 minutes every day to go to work is fine.

Very selective this virus.

I fear this lockdown will start imploding from tomorrow , when I think you will see a lot of businesses opening up again. Once Johnson hinted at May 26th it was a green light, people wont wait until then. they will start immediately , this trickle will soon turn into a cascade.

This is when the government need to show leadership and step up enforcement.

Theres the rub though. They want everyone back to work and using public transport.so now we are getting ridiculous messages that social gatherings will kill you but going to work wont.

The virus only attacks people in pubs parks and football stadiums.

For clarity. If you are on the bus going to the pub you will get the virus. If you are on the same bus going to work you wont.

advice will alter depending on what is wanted at the time. thats been the problem right from day 1. what has been unsafe will become safe. makes me wonder what advice we have had already has been the best or safest at the time.

Whatever date it is it is the measures and restrictions that are in place that is the most important thing. Personally my life aint been that much different i just dont go to the pub and watch football and have learnt and done things i would never have got round to.
Pubs, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and the traditional high street are going to be decimated as social distancing is difficult/impossible to enforce and along with a lot of other people i would not feel safe in these places and have no intention to for a long time. These venues need a certain level of trade to cover the fixed costs and they wont open to lose money so unless the government plugs the financial gap which would be ridiculous as they would be a hotbed for further infections.
In my view any venue where alcohol is or has been consumed should at least be closed until the new year so that includes all mentioned above plus sport.
I seriously think Garden centres should be opened as social distancing can be enforced and i need some compost.

I think that they have been able to remain open is because they sell fruit & veg and those places that sold food were classed as essential shops. Maybe.

That may have something to do with the fact that they ‘posted’ out 40,000 tests on Thursday, maybe, to make the 122,000 claim, but they were unlikely to be received by Friday and i may be wrong here but is there still post over the weekends or is it just weekdays now? If this is the case then the tests may not arrive back at the labs until Monday / Tuesday so will Handcock claim these 40,000 again next week?

Bent bastards

Yes i think thats the loophole so some who can open and others not.
Seems a bit unfair as i would imagine that selling fruit and veg would only be a small percentage of turnover of many of those allowed to open.

I presume you dont have to buy any veg/fruit?
Otherwise it would be ......."i want to buy a carrot and while i am here i will have 6 bags of compost, a barbecue, a bush, 6 seed packets and 10 trays of bedding plants and a sculpture of a elephant please."

Manipulation of statistics has been going on in the NHS since GP Fundholding started in 1991 and it as got progressively worst since.
In fact there was a big scandal at Hartlepool Hospital regarding A+E waiting times (as i recall) where the Chief Execs head was on the block but she managed to avoid the sack and her number 2 got the bullet.

What, is over 100,000, the number of tests carried out?

Right even with hancocks appalling goal post shifting and allowing for that to say 100k tests was carried out is just a plain lie. Just of interest do you know how many tests were carried out yesterday?

It was 70k.

Therefore even giving hannibal any amount of chances and get out of jail free cards he has failed. Its supposed to be 100k a day. Not 100k on the only day that mattered to hannibal.

I await his next stat shift.

Ok let’s take your figure of 70k. That’s a hell of an achievement.

Back down to 76k today ( or maybe its up to 76k , fook knows ) I can only assume , that's because postal workers generally knock off at midday on a Saturday.

[quote="phil"]As I have been saying for weeks, the number of tests are irrelevant if they aren't tracking the positive results.

plus finding out which areas of the country are at greater risk than others.

You are actually right about Saturdays but with a slight alteration. They aren't going to work Saturdays until further notice.
On the figures. If you want answers on the figures, instead of biased opinion, just check with John Newton and he'll oblige. He's got every stat it is currently possible to have on the subject.
