No surprises there. I'm surprised it took so long to make the decision.

Shit. I wonder how many clubs will fold because of this?

Not shocked, but disappointed. EFL to fully continue, National League has a chance of PPG, and below that they didn't even consider PPG for a millisecond, one rule for the rich and one for the poor. The folded club's blood will be on the FA's hands.

Also why has it took this long and why has the communication been so poor? They were set to announce this almost a month ago and didn't if memory serves me correctly.

They still have no idea what to do with Bury''s space too.

Just hope the clubs who had nothing to play for have the decency and integrity to vote for PPG so Barrow n Harrogate get promoted n 4 teams get relegated.
Plus the cranks on the FA change null n void to PPG in the rest of the non league pyramid.

For me nobody deserves to be promoted or relegated without completing the fixtures if you do that the whole competitive integrity of the competition disappears for good. You can’t just hand someone a place in the Football League or relegate a team those things have massive financial implications. It’s unfortunate for the teams in good positions and fortunate for the ones in not so good positions but a voided season is the only way it can go to avoid a legal minefield.

Anybody asking for a refund does not have the clubs interest at heart and is a charlatan and a cad.

If this is the case surely the season is cancelled. You can't relegate teams by changing the rules before the season ends.

You’d have thought so wouldn’t you but The National League don’t seem to prepared to make that decision and just want to pass the buck onto the clubs. Void is the only way to end it now the games can’t be played it will be ludicrous if they put it on another clubs vote.

I cant see how this is even controversial , if a season isn't finished then it has to be treated as though it didn't happen at all, in other words , no one goes up , no one goes down, everything stays the same and we go again next season , whenever that may be. Its the best of all the bad options , there aren't any good options. Its harsh on Barrow and I wish it was someone like Notts Co or Barnet who were top but that's just the way it goes sometimes, its sort of reassuring to know its not only us who suffer from chronic bad luck, you can imagine that happening to us. I just hope justice is done, and Barrow manage to keep it together win the title next season.

If this season in effect 'hasn't happened', why not reinstate Bury?

Each to their own but if we wer in Barrows position then the majority on here would be demanding PPG.

Have I already said this? In rugby they have promoted Newcastle to the premiership. Similar to the Bury situation in that Saracens are automatically relegated for a breach of fairplay rules.

Newcastle had played 15 of their 22 matches, won every single one, and had a 18 point gap at the top. The Premiership needs 12 teams, which is already few, so someone had to be promoted.

Nobody apart from Ealing in second place has contested the decision. It wasn't impossible for them to close the gap but it was highly unlikely. The position was certainly more cute and dry than with Barrow.

Void the season, you have to play 46 games and as we know anything can happen in football.

I like the sentiment of Bury, at the end of day we lost our place in the Football League due to chancer owners with no money like them but I struggle to see realistically starting from scratch how they could possibly finance a League One squad and be anywhere near competitive. Who owns Gigg Lane? They probably need to start lower down the pyramid.

Barrow don’t deserve to be just handed promotion more than anyone else, they have had a good a season to the point in stopped but had 70 points they had guaranteed nothing not even a play off place with that amount of points. Who knows what could have happened? A season is everyone playing each other twice or it’s not a season.

Haha, yes. Nobody thinks of me :( violin

There is precedent I suppose. The 1939/40 season was started but not finished.

Yes but ww2 kicked off in September 1939 and soon after games were suspended but that we at the start of the season.
This twat of a virus had to wait till March so I hope Barrow go up......I just couldn't have this all made null and void after all these games.

The season already 3/4 finished needs resuming some how in my opinion. What are we gonna do when the predicted second wave of the virus hits us? Void another season off? How about a 3rd wave?
Realistically our season was over anyway so it’s easy for us to just want to write this one off. Like someone else said earlier we’d have a very different attitude if we were sitting in Barrows spot right now

That would back up the theory of the plans to separate teams in the north and south.

We are in for the long haul.......even the new year to me sound optimistic to me.......tv is a way to get get some normality but with the contractual arrangement with sky/bt it's going to be a big problem to get it to the masses.

I still had hope; we weren't too far away and did seem very capable of putting together a run of results.

Lets hope Sky and BT show they are human for once and throw the rest of the seasons games free for all fans. The good will they will get may even get them some new customers

I applied severe cation after the words ‘Oliver Holt’.

I’m not sure how anyone can say anything with any degree of certainty at the moment I’m sure several scenarios have been discussed. I reckon this will be based on the talk about when social gatherings could be eased up on as non League football is unsustainable without gate money. In realty nobody knows surely the National League will have to fall into line with whatever the EFL are doing which hasn’t been decided yet.

Why don’t they stage all the games at Heathrow Airport or on London’s public transport network? Not ideal facilities but the rules don’t apply on those bbolt

if the worst case happens like this so called social distancing continuing for another 12 months then i cannot see even next season starting. the next pools side we see might be a lot different from the last one.

Lots of debates on social media on how the vote for promotions/ relegations should go.

Personally I think the season should be declared null and void. My reasons:-

- Nobody won the title. It was very much up for grabs, as were play off places and avoiding relegation.
- Sadly there are winners and losers but in this way at least everybody is treated the same.
- Precedent has already been set by the lower divisions where clubs have all been treated the same. Why should they miss out and clubs in our division cash in.
- Harrogate were in no more advantageous position than the club below them.
- Theres little point promoting/relegating anyone as we have no idea how many clubs are going to survive to occupy the current structure or whether a new one will be needed.
- There is absooutely no need to fill Bury's place in league two. It can run perfectly fine with 23.

Social distancing will be in place for 9/12 months so how can you have fans in the grounds?
Possibly if you play behind closed doors you could do something with the tv rights or streaming but this will in no way match ticket income at our level. Clubs at all levels will be slimming down squads so there will be plenty of players around and presumably wages will fall but unless you sign them on peanuts this again will not compensate for the loss on income.
I have not heard any suggestions in the media on how it can actually start up again at the lower level? Has anyone?

So, how do you think they're going to end this

The only logical way for me would be to void the season, there are too many teams with a chance of the playoffs/promotion as well as staying safe. I think the national league will look at the costs of a legal challenge from one team vs the others with something to play for.

Shite on Barrow but unless it was guaranteed then how can you relegate teams that are in the places on goal difference or are a couple of points shy?
