Has anyone seen the latest stuff from our "favourite"opponents? Apparently they wish for the National League to be left as it is for this season which means of course they stay in it. "Well they would say that wouldn't they? " (Either Christine Keeler or Mandy Rice-Davies). This is all going to end in tears for some. They give mention to play off contenders which includes Pools having no real case to argue otherwise. Any thoughts?

You've lost me Phil. No-one wants to catch this so called virus but it was about Ebbsfleet attitude to football.

...I weighed up that decision for way longer than any sane human should...

In all seriousness, our league hasn't gone down that route yet I think...but the steps below the National Leagues have. I still think it's an abhorrent idea not applying PPG promotion/relegation, maybe I'm been too cavalier here but in my opinion if you're in the relegation zone post March you're shite, no two ways about it. Same for the teams at the top. Of course it seems Liverpool will claim their title if recent news is to go by. Lol almost like the FA has bias towards top flight clubs or something.

The teams who banked on promotion will lose out far more than the teams who could of got relegated too. I understand banking on promotion is a bad idea but still.

The lack of communication before this decision was made was also staggering.

In short - Enjoy Ebbsfleet away as our first game of the season next year. sadx

Any team who puts winning promotion into their financial model for a coming season is mad. Plan to finish mid table for the purpose of financial planning or you could get a nasty kick up the arse when it goes wrong.

I think the season should be null and void. Players contracts run out before the season can be finished and you can't settle it as is because there's still a lot of football to be played. Ebbsfleet are right, regardless of their position.

Why? Football can be played in july. It's like a lot of people have a mental block that football should finish in may. Just because it always has.

Footballers will have to play a season and a quarter without a break. I am sure they could cope.

always been my argument when i mentioned being in favour of summer football at grass roots lever especially for kids. far better playing then than playing in january on some freezing mud heap of a pitch. they,ll never learn to play a slick passing game of football in those conditions.

Each to their own , but I would rather do other things during the summer , such as long walks in the countryside , drinking beer in pub gardens or days out in York , Whitby , Scarborough etc

apart from beer gardens you can do stuff like that throught the year nowadays as lots of places remain open. if you are not involved in grass roots football {and i mean proper grassroots unlike the fa who think the northern league and north west counties leagues are} it will not matter anyway. one thing that will eventually finish me off reffing is what some call proper football pitches. thick mud, poaring down and puddles. never saw that even as a kid and age has not made me feel different.

Contracts run out in June, teams will be depleted. Can't see pools being able to put an XI out.

Not if you're working you can't and only have weekends off. How many really warm Saturdays do we get in a typical British summer? I guess around 6 to 8 or so.

Also what about Cricket , would be a smack in the mouth for another one of our British pastimes.

cricket has always been put forward as an argument against summer football. i,m really talking about kids and adults proper grass roots stuff. the counter argument is for those who like to play hockey and especially rugby where they have to choose which of three sports they play.

Fair enough. Would parents want this though? during holiday periods etc , same with grass roots , councill pitches that become athletics tracks etc during summer , pitches on schools that are closed during summer holidays.
