Hungarian version of the bombardment, and it's not just a straight copy of the English article.

There are indeed 8 language versions (but no German), all different.
The old map is a bonus prize.

Yep it's a great map but there don't seem to be any others online between that one, 1914 I think, and post 1980.

You're right. I should have said no old post-war maps. The most annoying part is I used to have the damn maps when was a teenager.

This one comes closest. West Hartlepool ends at the Rec/Foggy Furze and old Hartlepool at Winterbottom Ave.

You can tell it's old by the four hospitals.

Love maps, have most of the Alan Godfrey ones on Hartlepool, but shame there are none from more recent times like say 1950, 1970 as maps, like pictures, constantly change.

There's a link in that Hungarian article to a German perspective from the period on that bombardment. It's actually very neutral and non-poropagandist apart from one questionable comnent.
The whole naval operation on both sides (the RN knew it was coming} is almost too complex to follow.
It wasn't just German cruisers come swanning across the North Sea, shell Hartlepool and Scarborough, then fuck ofl.
