In truth, the days of the message board have dwindled dramatically with the rise of Facebook and the like. This board has been going about 15 years so it’s had a fair run. Who knows how many will be around in five years let alone another 15.

It is a place to visit occasionally when I remember my password but to be fair it has changed a lot since the days of chip fireball and parmo etc, but it now appears people are a lot more argumentative.

They have, but in the case of pools what have they been replaced with? I'm not even allowed on that pools FB group for some reason and my friend was randomly removed from it.

Wouldn't bet against forums having a resurgence either.

I'm not a fan of the facebook groups. They do tend to be ran by rather officious people. Personally I've always taken the view than forums should be self policing. I've noticed that FB admins tend to take a position similar to the 'its my ball' scenario. The reality is that as an admin you own some pretty basic coding on the internet. Without the users it has no value at all.

I also think it's an age thing. Facebook groups attract a mostly younger audiences whereas users on forums that have been around since the late 90's, are middle aged, in the case of some - very middle aged and hopefully a little more circumspect. PJ aside of course.
