Just been reading some news from varying outlets on his demise, nobody has reported whether he was injured or not, seems odd to be out the night before a game!

I would imagine it’s not been reported anywhere due to it being completely irrelevant, seriously do you just post shit like this for attention?

A 25 year old man is murdered and you think a relevant part of the story is whether he should have been out the night before a match in the Northern Premier League or whatever level he was playing at.

Seriously?

In all seriousness unbelievable thread tbh. I thought in "the good old days" all players drank before playing games?

A bloke lost his life and you're concerned whether he broke club protocol about being out the night before a game. Utterly pathetic monkeybutt.

I did. I ignored him. There was a time when I might have engaged, but as he's so clearly fishing for reactions I didn't see the point.

I think at first he was genuinely making an observation but as he was immediately jumped on, as usual, he decided to join in and turn it into a wind up (as observed by Madjohn).

We are all different and see things differently and that in itself is not a bad thing.

If you are having a face to face conversation with someone you can easily see when they are serious but the written word is easy to mis-interpret and we need to remember that.

I'm not defending anybody's opinion or position here but people do see things differently and react differently.

Whether Mr Butt deserves the stick he gets on here is a matter of opinion, the fact is that he gets it.

He doesn't get it from everybody and that is a pointer in itself.

None of the rest of us considered whether the victim should have been there or not but other people do consider these questions. Obviously Mr Butt is one of them. You can't tell people what to think or not to think.

We could of course have every post vetted before publication and apply censorship but I'm not sure if we are ready to go down that road.

People are too ready to jump on the outrage bus before engaging their brains. Mr Butt knows that and mischeviously fuels it. He is not the only one.

Posts dont need to be censored. People just need to avoid gross stupidity. And this thread falls that category.

He immediately gets jumped on because every post is aggressive stupid ramblings that are more often than not racist, homophobic or on this occasion a huge fuckin insult to a young dead lad.

Remove yourself from his arse and stop making excuses for him.

You are defending him.

There’s no defending him

I’m not sure sure you ruffled anyone’s feathers he’s just replying to your post it’s how forums work.

It’s like you are seeking to make the thread about you. Please someone turn this towards me.

Very odd behaviour. You lecture people about ignoring it then break your own rules in the same thread.

Offering an unfiltered version of your thoughts isn’t normal or acceptable behaviour. We often speak about change and people adapting to today’s World, if Monkeybutt wasn’t retired his posts on here if alerted to an employer would have him sacked from pretty much any job. What is posted on here reflects on all of us.

I can't see what age has got to do with all this. When I was a kid some people were racist and others weren't, in fact, lots were actively anti-racist. Same in the 80s and 90s, plenty of bigots, not to mention violent loons, at football and plenty of people who weren't so you got fanzines etc arguing for sanity, tolerance etc. The balance has shifted in a generally positive direction over the years but there are still plenty of younger people with views that you'd hope to have seen the back of years ago.

Truth is that all this "winding up snowflakes" nonsense is just a weak cover for people who have always been nasty continuing to trot out the same vile crap as they have since they were at school. For some of them that was only a couple of years ago while others are even older than me, and I'm fairly ancient. Monkeybutt's problem isn't that he's old, it's that he's always been a bigot and you can see that in everything he posts whether the comments are meant to be jokes or not. Benefits, race, sexuality, disability, football - the subject doesn't matter, there's always hate at the heart of what he writes.

I am not up anybody's arse, nor am I looking for bites but I can tell you that I live not far from Retford and it is conversation around here and Mr Butt isn't the only one asking that question. I think everyone should cut some slack on this and wait for the facts to reveal themselves, if they ever do.

If some people want to offer us ‘unfiltered’ version of their thoughts, that’s their choice and the response that goes with it. I’m surprised at you for propagating such Orwellian concepts as deciding what should be filtered..
We often speak about change and people adapting to today’s World, if Monkeybutt wasn’t retired his posts on here if alerted to an employer would have him sacked from pretty much any job.
’Adapting to today’s world’ is an ongoing concept since time began. I find disturbing however the idea that someone could lose their job for the sake of expressing a comment. This sounds more like North Korea than a message board. Come to that, who decides what’s acceptable and what is not, because even in my lifetime it’s changed dramatically and could swing in an opposite direction at human whim. Nothing’s nailed down when it comes to what society finds acceptable..

I should point out that my above comments refer to the concept in general and not the specific case raised.

It’s not this message board I was referring to it’s a reality of modern life, for example an experienced Newsreader has just lost his job for quoting Shakespeare on social media!

It is not the question that is the issue, it`s because I asked it, thanks for the back up but it`s only the usual jellyfish on the case, thick skin and all that.

Of course it’s the question that’s the issue. It’s a totally irrelevant point to make and not even part of the story.

Of course it`s relevant, he was a professional footballer and unless he was injured, do you think it correct to be on the piss at 2am, whether he plays for Real Madrid or Matlock?

Yes I agree its massively relevant. And if he is found to have been out on the drink the night before a game he should be sacked.

Mindblowing.

The lads dead, have some respect ffs.

The issue of whether it was correct isnt ours to debate, he may have been injured and given permission. He might have been on the razzle cos he didnt give a fuckin shit.

ITS NOT AN ISSUE!

a 25 year old lad is dead, he was someones son.

Would you have this debate with his parents?

As a parent yourself i thought the natural instinct in this situation is to think its such a shame that parents have to bury there son.

Infact yeah i think it is.

Your just a very very sick individual.

As I said in my post, I am not defending anyone or anything, within the subject matter. I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of thought. I have chose not to comment on the case itself or ask questions about it. I don't know enough about the case. I don't know whether it was a chance meeting which ended in a fracas or whether it was organised. I know that tragically a guy was killed and I know that three youngsters have been arrested and another cleared. I also know that any fracas can end in death. I wouldn't ask the question myself but I know that others have. That is their choice.

Because I choose not to condemn Mr Butt on this occasion, that doesn't mean I agree with what he is saying but merely his right to say it. I offer the same consideration to all posters.

People can say what they like and if you want to take issue with what people say then you are free to do so.

I don't think you and Mr Butt are ever going to be bosom buddies but that's not my business.

If Mr Butt or anyone else is seen to be in breach of the rules of this forum then it is up to the upholders of the rules to deal with it. As I have never seen a set of rules I can't tell you whether he is in breach or not, therefore I am not going to condemn him. I apply that philosophy to all members of the forum. That doesn't mean I'm defending him.

I regularly disagree with things you say but I'll defend your right to say your piece. I can't judge people and won't judge people until it is clear that they are out of order.

Let him without blemish chuck the first brick as it were.

You are a moderator on this forum.
Instead of throwing insults out here there and everywhere why don't you you check the rules and see if Mr Butt is in breach of any with his question and deal with it, instead of promoting a lynch mob mentality.
Or are you pursuing this attack on Mr Butt simply because you disagree with him. In which case you are obviously out of your depth and should resign.
Which is it????
Just make a decision.

No smartarse answers please especially about burying offspring because i've actually had to do that......and I agree with you........it isn't very pleasant.
