Agree. Sure he made a programme once in the early 70s based entirely on Castle Eden Dene . I never saw it but would've liked to.

RIP

I remember seeing it and being fascinated that all of that was on the doorstep. He made the Dene sound really interesting.

We always called it Trimdon Dene when I was a kid.

I met David Bellamy at a function once. He was surprisingly down to earth and very funny

I met him at Teesside airport once when I was young was very nice and talked to me about science as I said it was my favourite subject. Lovely bloke along with Attenborough brought interest of biology to generations.

Shame he had a very odd view on global warming that seriously impacted his TV work.

it should never have had any affect on his tv work. i imagine he knew more about the subject than many who oppose his views with their knowledge written on the back of the much mentioned postage stamp.

Anyone who was a Scout back when I was will have known and met him well before he became famous.
He led a botanical expedition to the outer reaches of Spain (La Mancha was like some underdeveloped part of Mexico at the time) and invited the county's Senior and Rover Scouts to be the support party.
Unfortunately I couldn't go, but for those who did it was an event to remember.
He had a way of engaging you in the subject from the word go. Which is exactly why he became famous I guess.

RIP

My older brother went on the visit to Spain I think it was 1966 and me and my parents went to see him off from somewhere in Teesside (?). Bellamy was there and they went in 2 white ex army type lorries one which broken down in Spain and abandoned. My brother was an Adventure scout.
Always looked out for anything Bellamy did on tv. Great guy.
RIP

The original BBC report of his death had one of the reporters asking why much hadn’t been self him for a few years, was he ill?
The original reporter replied that since he questioned climate change several years ago all his work dried up. Sad really, a gifted communicator silenced because he didn’t conform.
Fly on, no one can clip your wings now.
