Shocked and gutted about this news, I am sure they were only saying on the verdict a couple of weeks ago that he’d be back for the South Africa series.

RIP.

I’m no cricket lover but the man always seemed to be an honest and genuine guy. A gentleman in fact. RIP Bob.

It might have been Botham's Ashes as far as the series was concerned, but the Headingley win was as much Bob's bowling contributions as well as Beefy's runs. RIP Bob Willis a criicketing legend.

It probably made Stan furious over the years that I’m sure he’s thumping his fist wherever he is now at you calling him Bob but it does prove your point

I have been seeing some great clips of some of Stan Willis’s more acerbic summing up of poor days for England my favourite so far after a collapse against India observing that he’d see less hookers on a walk around Soho.

Not a cricket fan at all really, but Bob Willis and myself crossed paths. As a kid the school had a trip to Headingly to watch England v Pakistan, it was rained off , so spent most of the day making a nuisance of ourselves, would've been around 78 or 79. A couple of England players were signing autographs in the stand, some bloke called Ken Barrington and Bob Willis. When I approached Willis my pen wasn't pushed down to show the nib, so he more or less told me to fuck off before he gave me his signature, I thought what a miserable bastard, the Paul Reaney of Cricket. Rather than complain I just laughed about it with my 15 year old mates, things were different then.

RIP BOB

you could put it all over facebook and twitter nowadays and claim against the whole england team for the trauma you suffered by your incident.
