Lovely control and lay off from James for the second goal.

Pools have recently grown a pair for the first time in a few years. Well done lads, let’s have a lucrative 3rd round for the first time in living memory.

thats the most important thing about yesterday and hope this never say die attitude carries on which will give everyone connected to the club a bit more faith. expect pools/exeter to get a home draw but against bristol city, bournemoth or the winners of plymouth and bristol rovers.

After games at Yeovil and Chesterfield plus the second half at Exeter, I am convinced that Pools have the potential to not only gain promotion but put on a decent show in division 2. However, playing with confidence for 90 minutes is needed and repeats of the second half at Ebbsfleet will condemn us to NL football for sometime to come.
Keeping fingers crossed for an away tie at ManU or the Toon to provide funds for a much needed defender.

Having only seen the highlights the BBC showed (for all I know we could have wasted some good opportunities too) it certainly looks like we were up against it. They should have gone 3 up just before we scored, I'm still not sure how Killip pulled off that superb triple save, and I think it's worth bearing in mind that our second goal was courtesy of a goalkeeping howler.

But it's brilliant to see us ride our luck and then fight back into the game. Team spirit certainly doesn't seem to be low at the moment.

About as message board bipolar as it comes!

Lots of pressure on the players really, what do you want League Two stability or non League forever?? Come lads get your fingers out.

Like has been said most of this season the squad has potential and scope to improve. We hopefully finally have a manager capable of doing the job who will actually get the time to do it. One or two additions and everything is still to play for this season. We have got to cut out the soft goals though, even the goals on Sunday were really poor. But we have got to be in a position at the start of next season where we have a settled strong team ready to challenge for promotion. We need to stop being short term.

Saying that a lot depends on the next match though win and I can see us being in League One within two years, play like we did at Stockport though and I can see the club folding in six months.

do not worry as there will be another performance like that just around the corner when we least expect it. it isn,t just pools its football in general. as long as games like that are kept to a minumum then things could be fine this season.

Well well well.

6.5 hours round trip for me this one, and after 30 minutes I was questioning my sanity. Exeter started the game bright and confident, we didn't start badly but they were clinical. First goal I'm not sure what Kerr was doing, apart from giving Bowman a free header at point blank range. Ex Darlo isn't he?

The second, good initial save from Killip, being critical if he'd have tipped it over rather than across then Atanaga wouldn't of had his easiest goal of the season.

At half time it was clear, a goal for us and it was game on, goal for Exeter it could of got embarrasing in the second half.

However we started well in the second half, wonder if the low sun had anything to do with it as it was now in the Exeter players eyes. Perhaps 2-0 is the most dangerous scoreline in football afterall.

Ben Killip then produced a great save and then two equally great instinctive stops, this of course was the beginning of the turn around, within a minute Nicky Featherstone drove a pure effort into the top left corner, I was right behind it and nobody was stopping it, arrow like. Quickly followed was our bit of luck as the keeper made a hash of what should have been a simple save and Nicke was on hand to react quickest and tap home.

We are a dangerous attacking side, but we are still leaking way too many goals. I'm not sure if Raynes is nursing an injury, swapping an experienced central defender for another central defender in the very similar mould on 72 minutes doesn't make an awful lot of sense to me. But it did freshen up our side along with Kambamba.

I reckon we deserved the draw, we done the hard miles why shouldn't we get a bit of luck? The draw will be interesting, we'll either have a massive carrot to fight for, or nothing much and just a bit of revenue to go for from a win. However I fear our away form is soooo much better than our home, it would not be a surprise to get a good draw then lose handsomely at home to Exeter! Still, we are in the hat, somebody else can do the travelling and there now must be a confidence growing amongst our team that we are decent, we don't lose easily and we'll always score goals.

Woking is still a massive game, we've got to get into that top 7 and then we can concentrate on back to back cup games.

Canny ground, shite parking.

I noticed Challinor mentioned Kerr in his interview regarding working with him about his awareness and something else .. Wonder if Raynes was fully fit (mustn't be) he would play Cunningham and Raynes .. or if he's looking to bring another centre back in - preferable!

Cheers for report, great triple save from Killip and seems a nice lad but still think we need a more experienced stopper to get out of this league. Reminds me vaguely of the promotion season in 1990, scoring was no problem however we leaked too many to ever get towards the top, we brought in Poole (for Cox was it?) and we started climbing and the defence suddenly looked a lot, lot better.

My memory aint great so someone will probably tell me we bought a brand new defence or summit mind.

Did we have a back 3 or 4 at Exeter? Kerr always looks a bit lost and unsure where to be in a back 3 imo.

A friend of mine is an Exeter fan and he was bemoaning the fact that their fans didn't get behind their team like the Poolies.
He posted on one of their discussion pages that there was not one song from the home fans during the whole of the second half at St James Park.

Well done the away fans and I hope the Vic shows them what a home crowd should sound like next Tuesday.

They won't fancy it on a cold midweek night in the far North East etc etc.
