Pools 3 - Yeovil 2

Hopefully a nice attacking, free flowing game with minimal stoppages.

Kitching to eventually keep a shot below the roof of the stand and the bar.

Played well as a team today how we miss so many chances god knows.
They come here with 7 wins on the bounce but with a decent ref we battered them.

Anybody else miss the winning goal like me! walked out spitting fucking blood cursing like fuck and with about 200 others ran back in when the roar went up. FFS! never leave before the end normally banghead

Good win with a decent ref again and Kerr and Raynes were superb. Bring on Stockport

Well, that was a great game of men's football wasn't it? Hignett put out an 11 that looked like they could hold their own in a physical contest, and did they ever!

Huge credit to the ref, Mr Copeland - he's the old school type who obviously still thinks that football is a contact sport. I lost count of the number of tackles he waved on because the first contact was with the ball, which was brilliant because most of them were coming in from the likes of Mafuta and Kennedy! There's plenty of refs in all divisions who would have blown up and got the cards out for a few of them.

Yeovil threw their toys out out of the pram towards the end, but for most of the game they were there to play football and not like the cheating, cynical bastad sides that we normally end up losing to.

3,000 Poolies very well entertained - onwards and upwards.

That’s a massive win today and hopefully a turning point in the season after the amount of points we have already already dropped at home not winning again today after being the better team would have been a massive kick in the teeth. A Very winnable looking game coming next as well, this hopefully will be looked back on come May as I do feel like we have a decent side this season.

It was an enjoyable game, I just don`t see why James makes the starting 16, spent most of the game on his arse with hands outstretched looking for something that wasn`t, we have better players who don`t play because he is included, am I missing something or is running around for 80 minutes without a contribution part of the strategy?

I take the point about James Mr Butt but i think he is being wrongly played as a striker with his back to goal.
He needs to be played slightly deeper attacking the defenders head on but all the managers play him up top so they must know something i dont know.
Perhaps he is there to just run the fat bastard central defenders ragged to create space for others but i think this is a waste of a good intelligent footballer.

James would be wasted playing deeper, that's not his game at all. He is a pest and needs to be right up top hastling the defence. He doesnt give the defenders a second. Hignetts plan was to shut them down as they play out from the back so James was an obvious starter over Kabamba.

Well played Luke.

James took about 20 minutes to get into the game - after that he was a real handful for their defence. Playing him as the most advanced attacker created space for Toure and Donaldson to exploit - when the people behind him started hitting balls into channels for him to run onto rather than expecting him to win headers against defenders 6 inches taller than him.

I’ve seen everyone play for Pools who started today. Just stating a fact, we win when he starts in recent matches.

A ‘Duracell bunny’ occupies defenders, stretches the game and creates space for others. National League defenders who in the main just want to head and clear it probably aren’t going to enjoy playing against James when we also have the quickest bloke in the League next to him.

I always the struggle with someone who always needs a scapegoat even ona day you’ve beaten the form team in the division. The team played well everyone is part of the team and performance.

If you are happy for a player to spend 50% of his time on his arse begging for a non existent foul, be happy.

I am happy we won against a team who have won seven in row, that’s all I’m bothered about to be honest. I also realise that I support a National League club and that most players will have limitations. In the past I’d say go back and watch Manchester United again but I’d fancy our chances against them at the minute.

Also people who appear to have more aptitude to talk about the football game they have seen reckon he did a job for us today.

The James/Toure combination is by far and away the best we have as a front 2

Great performance from everyone and a much deserved win in my opinion. Kennedy does a lot of the ugly stuff that goes unnoticed and was my MOM today. Especially after that goal! Despite doing ok, I felt James struggled a bit today at times with the game plan. His touch let him down a few times and their defenders cleared most of the higher balls.

I’ve only seen him play a couple of times (and know he’s not currently fit), but think Niko Muir could link up well with Toure in games like today. Hopefully he gets a chance to do so.

Impressed with Kenton Richardson's performance today, to add to those he's made at right-back this season. Did somebody once report he played midfield for the Reserves/Youth Team ?

He played a great through ball for Toure in the first half, but unfortunately Gime wasn't alert to it

Richardson and Cunningham the two of our players most likely to be getting scouted from a Championship team. No idea about the Yeovil players and who might be getting watched.

Plenty of incentives for the young players. Scouts around, competition for places, a potential of achieving something in the league. It puts the will to win of Noble into perspective.

I heard they had come to see Noble but were gutted to hear he had gone to Morpeth.

In the match highlights Mark says he was onside when he received the ball from Featherstone during the build up

As for the match highlights themselves, what an excellent free service for Pools fans - 18 minutes, with commentary too. The camera work is up with the play, not blurred or too distant (as was Eastleigh's), & there's the added footage from the guy at the opposition's goal end.

Very well done Pools

I knew their defenders thought Donaldson was offside, not seen anyone mention Kennedy.

But as you say he was never anywehere near offside.
