A clearly unwell John this week makes complimentary comments about Steve Gibson. And then goes back to Bury...........

This country seems to be going through a period when changing the rules on a whim passes for normal, but I'm dead against Bury being reinstated straight back into the Football League (or into the National League, as has also been suggested).

The whole thing reeks of Northern Powerhouse, Manchester as the centre of the footballing universe bollocks. They've had a succession of criminally poor, if not actually criminal, chairmen, and specially pleading on their behalf is nothing new, as this article shows- https://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/jan/10/bury

It's tough luck on Bury's fans but tell that to Wimbledon fans, Darlo fans or (very nearly) Hartlepool fans. They've got Accrington Stanley on their doorstep as an example of what what real fans can achieve if they put their minds to it.

If Bury were to be allowed to take their football league place back, or be allowed to start in the National League, the football authorities would be opening themselves up to a minefield of legal action from other clubs mentioned already who were forced to start again at the very bottom.
We were made to start again in the northern league due to a technicality over Raj not releasing the football share, hence the 1883 tag. If Bury get let off lightly there would be hell on.
