Just been on Talksport ahead of his latest March for Men. Discussing the situation at Bury & he said "5 or 6" of our squad in the National League when Raj took over were on £1500 a week.
No wonder we ended up in shit creek.
Struggling to think of any of our players in recent years who would merit those sort of wages.

Blimey, wander if those contracts had anything to do with the recruitment and agency people associated with the club and commission payments.

You never know... I'm sure it is a complete coincidence that Dave Jones was revealed in a consultant position at Bury just as financial chaos consumed the club.

Probably was the players we transfer listed at the time i.e Laing, Cassidy, Munns Newton and Donaldson, how very poor value for money they were.

Did he mention something about regionalising of the lower leagues and wage caps?
Someones mentioned it today.

Nothing about regionalising the league but seem to recall something about wage caps. Can't remember if it was on Jeff's bit though.

I don't t see how a salary cap would help that much, players wages are a drop in ocean compared to the money that gets stripped out of the clubs by unscrupulous owners

true to a certain point but all this financial problems clubs are getting into nowadays can be put down to high wages being paid that they cannot really afford just to keep up with the bankrolled clubs like forest green, fleetwood and salford at league level plus all those in our league.

Scott Loach will certainly have been one of them as he was something of a marquee signing for Harrison. Player of the season and fans' player of the season in his first season for us, when Pools could easily have been relegated again. Does that equate to him being worth £78k a year? Dunno, but it's an even longer way back from the National League North.

Donaldson missed most of that season with injury but has taken a wage cut and is now Craig Hignett's club captain. Not sorry we signed him.

Cassidy and Munns are bog standard National League players - though to be fair both are playing regularly for teams that are currently above Pools in the table! Laing and Newton are not even that.
