Not a bad keeper. Did reasonably well for us.

I really hope Hignett picks Killip on Saturday though, fair enough let him know he now has competition for his place and see how he responds, he must be better and do better than he’s shown. But it just looks like panic stations dropping your summer signing after 5 games for a 19 year old kid. An experienced keeper he could learn from and come back stronger from is a different matter, this could destroy him early in his Pools career.

Why did we keep Catterick on by the way, I really don’t see where we are going goalkeeper wise.

Thing is if Killip is already struggling with the pressure etc then i doubt competition will do anything to help that.

The fact it's an away game may see Killip keep his place but I cant see it.

agree. a nervous dodgy game from him there could signal a rest for him on monday. a keeper that looks nervous only makes the defence nervous in the end if they do not fully trust whats behind them.

Living in Essex I both saw and read in local press about Killip during his time at Braintree. He certainly looked like he was one of the new breed of keepers playing the ball out well both from throws and kicks he was credited with two assists to goals. Yes he has made mistakes but I believe it is as much down to defensive errors as to him. He is the current England C international keeper and has played in front of bigger hostile crowds in this time. What I find a little strange is loaning an inexperienced keeper when we have resigned an older keeper in Catterick when he was not given a chance when Loach was going through a sticky patch.

From the limited amount I have seen of Catterick he’s nowhere near first team standard at our level which begs the question why was he kept on? The fact that he gets loaned out to Northern League clubs when we only have one other keeper tells you all you need to know, really strange to still have him on the wage bill.

Killips distribution in pre season was excellent. It was the one thing that stood out to me. Sadly in more recent games it hasn't been as good as he has shown he is capable of it's but still miles ahead of any keeper we have had recently. I also really hope that we can give him a bit more time at least SAturdays game.

The loan singing of a younger keeper is a bit strange. That makes it 4 keepers on the books now at pools, and we play in the National league. That is ridiculous for most league 1 and 2 clubs when none of them are injured.

I wonder if Catterick was offered a deal as we knew Loach was going and Hignett didnt want 0 keepers on the books at that point, plus his wage is probably fairly low.

Maybe we offered Young a pro deal a bit early with a view to what happened to that defender that Fulham nicked but in that knowledge that he wasnt ready to be back up to whatever keeper we brought in?

Or summit like that.

As does a nervy defence worry the keeper. If he wanted a keeper to challenge Killip why did he not as many have suggested sign Dimi on a non contract basis and pay as you play.

If Dimi plays they'll know where to deliver the bills from his restaurant. Maybe what we can pay won't cover the possible costs.

I would play Killip Saturday and if he does not perform bring the new lad in Monday.
I would have thought that Boro would insist on a certain number of games for him.

I too hope Killip starts and I can't see why Higgy has made this move...will only think it'll hurt Killip's confidence more tbh. I hear Bradley Young is doing good at Billingham Town as well.

really hope you are right. as an ex keeper myself who went through dodgy spells i know what it is like. your team mates may have all the sympathy in the world but you have an idea what they are thinking even if they do not say it. remember playing in a local cup final where my team won 2-1. only had one shot to save and i cocked it up. never even went to pick up my trophy as the game was meaningless for me.

Don't be so hard on yourself you might have had "minor underlying issues" that you didn't know about.
