Should Killip gaffes result in the loss of further priceless points this weekend then Hignett will have little choice but to recruit another keeper. He (Hignett) will be judged on results and goalkeeping is the only single position which can directly, readily and regularly make a difference between winning and losing. At the end of the day it really is as simple as that.

I feel a bit for young Killip. Everyone has to be given time to settle in and he's making a move from part-time to full-time. You don't get to turn out for England C for nothing, but he looked shaky on Saturday. Goalkeepers unfortunately can't be given too much time when out of form.

That said, that defence would give Alisson the yips. The defence was absolutely chronic on Saturday with the third goal missing only some clown shoes and a sad trombone to complete the embarrassment.

On the positive side I was really impressed with Nico Muir's leading the line and hard work, Toure is a really exciting old fashioned maverick, our second goal from Mafuta was a beaut.

It seems Hignett is trying to go down the Barry Fry route of not caring how many we concede as long as we score one more. With many new faces it's taking a while to come together and I doubt it'll work in this league.

Unfortunately, Bromley's is a template for success in this league: lung power + physicality + sitting deep + hitting hard on the break+ gamesmanship = top eight finish. Admirable though Hignett's approach is in trying to be an entertainer, I left the ground feeling that this played right into their hands, and will do the same against many other sides in this league who play in the same way.

When Hartlepool learn to win in this way (and I agree Bromley looked much fitter and a yard quicker mentally) then they earn the right to try and be entertainers, not before. Lots for the manager to reflect on.

Hard to argue with any of that, nice post.

Killip has been a bit shaky no one here at all can argue to that. However the three goals on Saturday granted you can always say he should of done this that or the other and he will be thinking the same.

The 1st goal lads run through one on one with Killip and it's to be fair a very good finsh. The 2nd goal lad has time to turn and finish from 6 yards out barely challenged (Element of luck of the gren as the ball bounces to their player who marker is on his arse after the original ball in) The third goal the play goes from the Bromley centre back in his own half to the player one on one with Killip at the edge of his 6 yard box in about 2-3 seconds.

The lad is having a bad run of form but the team are definitely not helping him out by allowing teams to get into shooting positions from 6 - 10 yards to have free hits at the kid.

Can't really argue with that - in fact on another thread on Sunday morning I didn't! :-) :-)

"Then you have Bromley, basically 3 goals from 3 chances, each one put away clinically.
First one, forward runs into the space between Kerr and Raynes - pass and goal.
Second one, Kerr is beaten at the near post and a Bromley player reacts quickest when the ball drops in the box - goal.
Third, their player in midfield has all the time in the world to flight a ball over Pools' back four, forward runs in behind again, keeper comes out too late - another ridiculously soft goal conceded."
