We know this league is full of clubs that are basically vanity projects for well off chairmen, but this takes the biscuit:
https://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/ ... ort-491000

Boreham Wood 0 - Sutton 1 last Saturday. Attendance 407.

"130 Sutton fans made the short journey to Hertfordshire meaning just 277 home fans were in attendance."

"Despite reaching the National League play-off final in 2018 and offering some of the cheapest season tickets in the National League, Boreham Wood’s crowds have failed to improve despite continued investment."

There's 8 or 9 proper football clubs with decent support and a bit of history in the division. At the minute none of them are in the top 3.

If football really is a religion, this is purgatory.

Also

“If you took out the players and boardroom guests and took out the media and away fans, we had just 46 home Adult and OAP fans turn up and pay on the day for a local National League fixture."

They have one more point than us.

thing is its not about how many fans you have nowadays but about the size of the owners pockets. the system has spawned the likes of crawley, fleetwood, forest green, salford and fylde with maybe south shield and spennymoor waiting in the wings. sides like pools, stockport, wrexham and chesterfield all plod on with attendances higher than the above lot and without a real change in football finance will continue to plod on whilst some club no one has ever heard of starts its rise to the football league with their 200 fans and an owner who uses the club as a new shiny toy. its not the games that will eventually turn me off the game its the bloody system.

They charge £20 to get in on the day. We took a couple of hundred there last season, they don't do student discounts, apart from season tickets he's hardly making it attractive for floating / visiting fans.

Heard from a friend yesterday whose son has just signed for them that Morpeth Town in the Northern Premier is the latest NE club splashing the cash because the owner fancies taking them as high as he can.

Morpeth could even be a league game for us next season, if we don't sort our act out. Noticed saturday in their first game they won away to one of the favourites. Been promoted two years on the bounce too

Morpeth are definitely a club on the up,since winning the vase in 2016 there crowds have risen from about 100 to 700ish. I live in morpeth and a few lads I know that go along are disillusioned Newcastle fans and would rather go along to morpeth now as its affordable and entertaining. I dont think they are throwing stupid money at it and have a few players who have been there a while now. Obviously the bigger gates help pull in players as well to compliment what they already had. I'd love to see them go up again but I'd be bloody embarrassed to have to play them in a league game!

With how shit non league football is nowadays its not to hard for these so called minnows to rise up the pyramid with a. Wealthy backer. Plus they probably don't gamble on crock signings and. Coach/Train the players properly so they don't get a shit load of injuries. :teasing-signhere:
