No wonder the poor lad didn’t start the season too well

Utterly horrendous, he has shown great character playing at all. Maybe next time people see personal reasons as a reason for missing out they will keep opinions to themselves.

It’s shows amazingly strong character the fact he’s been involved at all and shows up some of the nuggets slagging him off after one game for what they are.

I was thinking the other night when he was warming up how good a lad he seemed he was constantly encouraging the lads the playing and that was without knowing what he’s been going through.

What a horrific way to lose anyone.

Devastating news for Rom and his family. Absolutely unimaginable horror story. My personal and I guess all of Pools fans send their deepest condolences to you all.

That's absolutely terrible news for anyone to have to deal with, let alone a 20 year old just settling into a new environment.

I'm amazed Romoney was in a fit state to be on the subs bench on Tuesday, but maybe an element of normal routine is what he needs right now.

Can't remember a single comment on here about the fact that he was withdrawn from consideration on Saturday, nor anything you could call 'slagging him off' after the Sutton game.

Awful stuff, fair play for playing the opening game with all that on his mind, also for not responding to the idiots in mill house terrace abusing him.

No, I was just making it up, slagging him off maybe the wrong choice of words but ridiculously writing him off yes. Take this very supportive post as an example;

“If there is any chance of bringing Taylor to the club Higgy should go down on bended knees to Raj to be permitted to do so and dispatch the kid back to Huddersfield sooner than you can say Rob McKinnon - he is a disaster waiting to happen judging by what I saw on Saturday.

Don’t get me wrong Im all for giving youth a chance but LB is a key position and any side with serious play-off ambitions cannot afford the luxury of playing a kid learning his trade week in week out in a tough men’s league that is the NL. I’m not sure wtf Hignett was thinking of tbh but it sounds like yet another ‘make do and mend’ decision. Why not bide his time and look for a loan deal for an experienced pro? Who actually gains from this - certainly not Pools as the kid will be repeatedly targeted as a weak link.”

Or this posted during the first half of the match;

“What does he see in the left back. Makes Kitching look a good option”

Anyway this thread is not the time or place it’s incredible that he’s even been coming to work in the circumstances.

Indeed.

Quite why you thought an expression of sympathy for Romoney's tragic loss was an appropriate opportunity to criticize other posters for being prematurely judgemental of the lad as a footballer escapes me.

I didn’t single out anybody the comment was more in praise of his strength of character at such a young age I didn’t even mention that the comments were on this forum he got plenty of flack from the terraces as well.

Terrible news and my sympathy goes out to the lad and his family. It is a tragic blow to lose anyone but losing you're Mam is devastation itself.
Maybe Pools could send the juniors round the ground on Saturday with a few buckets to boost the fund.

The Go Fund Me page is already over £16,000 - double the initial target, and will quite likely go quite a bit higher.

Amazing response, which I guess will pay for the funeral as well and is something towards the future of the 10 year old.

I'd be in pieces if that happened to any of my family. Absolutely horrendous news and tremendous character from the lad.

Hope he and his family have all the support they need.

Oh my word, that is absolutely horrific. I bet the lad couldn't care less about football right now.

Seems the gofundme is still going. Amazing support from everyone, apparently Pools donated a large amount too. Kid shows lots of guts to keep on playing through this. I just wonder why that person did such a violent act in the first place.
