In light of Pubey saying new people starting threads I thought of this of weirdest things heard at Vic or any footy ground.

Mine was a guy shouting into the town end toilets “it’s amazing what you can do with a sponge”

Now how many things can you do with a sponge I know two mop up liquid and wash with it

Years back a couple of blokes on the Millhouse terrace would spend a fair chunk of every game discussing sea fishing. I could have moved away, but it was usually more interesting than the football!

At any rate, it was preferable to gobshites yelling 'Noble you're fucking rubbish" every 5 minutes.

I'm sure they're wasting their time - Nobla's skin is as thick as our very own Rhino Nell's!

At half time a match against Brighton one of their fans came up to the fence in the NW corner and asked which pies were the best. Bloke answered by screaming, "Fuck off you gay Chinese 'lovely lovely person'" at him from about two feet away. Obviously the gay bit was hilarious banter aimed at Brighton but the lad appeared to be white British with no features whatsoever that might explain the Chinese bit. He just shook his head and walked off looking a bit puzzled.

I'd hazard a guess, Compo, that someone had been injured during the match and recovered by application of the "magic sponge"?

I remember going into a tackle with a bloke, rather a long time ago, and his boot flew off and smacked me in the mouth. It drew blood and our "trainer" ran on with his ancient bucket and sponge and I had to use the contents to swill my mouth out. It didn't bother me too much but I did spend a little while trying to think back if anyone else had earlier received said sponge around their 'chandeliers'.

Maybe he was on about a contraceptive sponge?

Although we learned about them at school I've never actually seen one. Although they are concealed I suppose.

Perhaps he had brought a Victoria sponge in with him - the mind boggles.
