The kid was better last night apparently although there was only one way that he could go after Saturday. Of more concern is that the entire team is not performing according to the match reports, form ratings and the guys whom I know were there. There is a long long way to go but if Pools haven’t troubled the points tally keeper by this time next week serious questions will begin to be asked not least by Mr Singh I would imagine.

Looking forward to you remaining equally active on this board when Pools start winning again. Which they will!

Craig Hignett said in pre-season that with competition for places no-one should expect to be an automatic pick and any player not doing it on the pitch would be out regardless of who he is. He needs to be brave enough now to put that into practice. The likes of Holohan, Cunningham and Muir should be starting games - some of the guys currently wearing the shirts deserve a kick up the backside.

I 100% agree that Hoolohan and Cunningham should be starting - not sure about Muir though as he hardly pulled up trees last season although this summers intake of journeymen are hardly impressing the fans or the media reporters thus far. Fear not you won’t see me active on this board when (IF) Pools start winning again as it will revert to meaningless non-football related twaddle that blighted the board in the close season. If I had any interest in what is effectively social media tripe I would join the wife on firkin Facebook.

Bit weird that you admit you only post when we lose.

I’m sure your a lovely man and probably a better fan than me but you seem to thrive in the misery of defeats and I think it’s a strange angle to get off on.

Nowt as queer as pools fans

Can just imagine it now. Back in 2007 pools are 15 games into Danny Wilson’s sides 23 match unbeaten run.

Mr Smokey Joe “I’m not going till we start losing”

Lose to Barnet 5 minutes later

Mr Smokey Joe “Wilson out. Porters shite. Why’d he bring Hignett on. Should of put Ali Gibb upfront “

A predictably shit response, I did not admit that I only post when we lose and you know it. Neither do I thrive on the ‘misery of defeats’ (nice turn of words though) I am as pissed off as anyone with the abysmal start that Hignetts revamped side has made. I meant that this board is tediously boring when everything is hunky-dory - not that state of affairs has lasted for long during the last ten years.

I am indeed a lovely man and would imagine that you are too despite your erroneous, twisted and unnecessarily obnoxious post. Why anyone who cares to criticise the manager or players receives virtually instant abuse on this board is beyond me. I probably was a better fan than you back in the day but countless years of frustration, unfulfilled promises and inane managerspeak tend to make one increasingly cynical. If the photograph is a true reflection of your image then you will be enduring life at the Vic long after I have shuffled off my mortal coil so enjoy your cynical years when they arrive my friend.

I have no problem with people being unhappy and venting.

I simply pointed out that admitting you only post when we lose is a bit sad.

Yeah thats not me in the picture like.

Isnt that a picture that someone who created a fake profile to agree with his own posts used?

It was a fake profile used by one of the other lot from the other board to post on facebook and agree with the own posts and general trust hate.

Thats not even one of their weirder fake profiles to be fair.

The lass one was the weirdest, lauren hill or summit.

Does appear that fans that moan, how dare they after 10 years of glorious football are rounded upon sometimes on here. No wonder this message board has died a death.
Lets be honest message boards are probobly more busy after defeats anyway, its just the way it is. Lets hope we get this winning run going, its not looking too good at the minute, but im sure once the manager has finally worked out how to cope in this league and find his best 11, which he really should of used pre season for at some point then we will be fine.

The Bunker is not alone in getting smaller, it's messageboards in general across the internet. A few years ago I was part of two video game related forums and they were both thriving, one of which now has shut down and the other is obviously winding itself down and moving to Facebook and Discord.

It's like video killed the radio star, just in this case, Facebook, Reddit and more general areas killed specific messageboards. In all honesty the Bunker is probably the most active forum I am part of these days.

Everybody moans after a couple of defeats. Absolutely everybody.

The people that get 'rounded on' are the ones who seem to like nothing better than a bad run of results, usually combined with comments to the effect that anyone who can't see what total shit Pools are knows nothing about football. Strangely, the mega-pessimists are often sensitive souls who react badly to a bit of mickey-taking.

I've been coming to Pools longer than most on here and if I only count seasons when we've been up near the top of the table as successful I've stood or sat through almost as many crap decades as I have good seasons.

I don't blame anyone for jacking Pools in as a bad job, but if you're going to keep on coming to games hope has to spring eternal otherwise what is the fucking point?

I suspect that some of the most persistent critics on here never go near the Vic but get some perverse pleasure out of winding up those who do when Pools are in (yet another) bad patch.

What he said.

The hey days of message boards were the late nineties through to late 00's. Since then Facebook has taken over. There was a time when this place, much like when Kev Williams ran ITB, was the centre of everyone's Pools universe. But those days are over because as was said, some people just have grown up. I'm afraid a lot of people gave up on Pools over the past few years too. Whether that be because of the dire football over the past decade or the infighting during the Coxberg era and the trust early days or they have just found something better to do. I know of a number of the former main contributors on this board will have nothing to do with Pools in any form any more despite decades of religious attendance home and away. I'm mostly in that camp too; we did the Monkey hanger CD and started the Trust, all you get for this is grief and snide comments. It ends up destroying your passion. Anyway, my back is just about healed up and I have no intention of allowing it to be a target again.

We're still here though and more active than most. Incidentally, the Pools Facebook groups are graveyards.

I guess I'm one of few Poolies to be classed as new blood then? I began going to games as recent as 2016. A monkey hanger friend converted me and I've never once looked back. I think it's genuinely sad some people have had to leave following their club, a simple passtime in essence because of people desiring vitriol.

think people can actually get too close to their interests, hobby or whatever you call sand try to enjoy it in your own way.upporting pools is. no single fan can alter the way the club is run, pick the team, sign players or even fry all the chips. just turn up for the games you can and try to enjoy them in your own way. was on the commitee of a clasic car club years ago and lost interest in my cars because of the involvement i had.

I store my water in a chilled unit called a fridge, it helps if you put them in several hours prior to wanting them or they are still fucking tepid, I have lost interest in water since the warm water pools ineptness thing!
