I've had Virgin Media for a few years now, but I'm ready to bail.

The bastads have been sneaking the bill up slowly over time, and I've just had another letter saying its going up by an extra £3.50 per month.

All I require is the following:

Broadband
Freeview channels
Something to record programmes on
It would be nice to have Youtube and iPlayer through the telly too

I have no idea about TV recorders or anything, but I know that lots of you know what you're on about.

I will never give Sky any money. I want to avoid anything Amazon are involved in too.

All advice greatfully recieved ta.

A key issue is do you have or need a landline?

If you don't need a landline then get a Humax recorder and get your broadband from the supplier giving the best deal.

Think plusnet and talktalk are generally the cheapest ISPs. Believe both offer TV boxes as well but for what you want I'd just invest in a set top box for a one off cost. Most boxes have hard drives and wifi these days.

Have one but never use it.

Sounds to me like a basic virgin media connection will do you. The smart TV will still do YouTube/youporn and depending on the tv, all the catchups. Recording you’ll need a human box but why? Catchup records them for you.

The kids like to record lots of episodes of the same series and watch them again and again over months. They drop off the iplayer after a few weeks.
