Good game pools played alot of good fast football today.
Noble standout player played really well.
Good goal by williams edge of the box just stroked into the top corner.
Just a shame about hawkes right at the end of the game he pulled up in agony looks a bad un going by his reactions.

Excellent 1st half, controlled the game and if we had a proficient striker we could have been 4 or 5 up at half time. Second half, kitching at left back weakened us dramatically and Sheff Utd knew it and exploited it. It’s not a criticism but noted all the goals came from midfield. Looks.like Hawkes will be out for a while definitely hamstring, virtually last kick of the game.
The opposition I thought were a little lightweight

How did the trialist at left back play?

Apart from a slip in the first half I thought he did very well considering he has only been at the club presumably for a few days. Thought it was Kioso at first very similar style and type of player, same haircut as well. Might be difficult telling them apart without my glasses on when they are both on the pitch at the same time

Stong, quick, athletic, nothing got past him. In comparison Kitchen came on for him at half time, got skinned within a minute (im not joking) and they scored straight away. That change alone massively weakened us.

I know it was Sheffields under 23 threes but they had some decent players out there but I was still impressed with Pools and they have given me great hope that this is going to be a good season. Richardson for me has earned is place at right back and we still have Molyneux to come in when ready. It was great to see Williams on the pitch and had to laugh when faced with a 50/50 tackle he rode it and the town end groaned. I don,t want to see him getting into 50/50 challenges he,s out there to run the game and chip in with goals which he did. Killip is a breath of fresh air, he releases the ball quickly unlike Loach who acted as if the ball was his and nobody else was having it, and he has good distribution with the ball at his feet.

We are going to have a strong bench which we haven,t had in ages , not sure about Noble from Huddersfield being the answer at left back. I wonder if Kioso could do a job there? Maybe worth trying v Macclesfield who are going to give us another good test and then hopefully we can get a flying start to the season and encourage a few more throught the gates.

If we still had the squad that finished last season, Pools starting the new campaign without Molyneux and Hawkes would feel like a disaster. As it is, with Mafuta and Kennedy playing and Williams (fingers crossed) on the bench, the midfield won't look too shabby at all.

I'm convinced that I read a week or two back that the Macclesfield game had been called off but checking back, I can see bugger all and only found one message about them running a supporters coach?

Has it been reinstated or am I spouting my usual bollocks? Whatever, I'm feeling rather optimistic about our chances this season, considering the type of players we have brought in, although, admittedly, I haven't seen any of our pre-season games.

I had to do a double take when I read it but it was just their supporters' bus that was cancelled, not the game!

Cheers for the explanation, MDKMF! I am unable to attend which is probably why I only gave the two/three articles a perfunctory glance but it doesn't explain why I couldn't find any of them unless I repeated my earlier error.
