Watching cricket but listening to radio tees. I so wish we score just to shut up Maddison, everything brilliant about borer according to him, no praise whatsoever for pools, mind with not being there maybe they are not praiseworthy

Did the new shirts effect the result?

If we had Alex ferguson as manager, yes.

Some encouraging signs, Toure is like a cheetah , hit the post and scared the hell out their defenders with his pace.

Mafuta looks strong, Kerr shaky for me with decision making and positional play, the rest all had a decent run out.

Didn't Brownlee get a bit of criticism a few years ago when you played Boro a few years ago and he did his "gooooaaalllll" when they scored?
Its a childish thing for a commentator to do anyway especially in a friendly on a station that is meant to cover both teams as one of their own.
Seems like the current mob are just as bad.

Maybe it’s not such a good thing to play a friendly against a team whose style of play may be good enough for the championship but we will not encounter through our up coming season. Just against say league two teams may be more beneficial for us.

Surely Williams could have got on the pitch for the last twenty minutes.

Surely the clubs medical staff and Hignett know best?

You can't handle the truth!

Williams is under cover, spying on behalf of Leeds with a view to cherry picking our highly talented squad.

Just you wait and see, you unbelievers!

I reckon Hignett might put him on bench tonight to get him back into the match day squad routine. Maybe not even give him any minutes on the pitch which will help further antagonise those who are up in arms that we are taking our time looking after a player.

No mention of Williams in the clubs preview or indeed in the bit about which players will miss out so maybe nows the time.

Calling him a player is stretching it a bit.

Likewise should he get injured again, certain "fans" will be overjoyed and will be on here in milliseconds to shout it from the rooftops.

dont think anyone should get excited or post about a player getting injured its just the whole williams saga thats gone on far too long for me. hope i,m wrong but can easily see headlines where he has had to retire through injuries.

How many 'stars' do Pools have?

https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/news/2019/july/180719-injury-update-on-hartlepool-united-star-luke-molyneux-after-york-city-substitution/
https://www.hartlepoolunited.co.uk/news ... ld-united/

Is there a connection between being a 'star' and spending time injured? Are the rest of the squad hoping to avoid being a 'star', or resenting not being a 'star'?

In my view Pools don’t have ANY ‘stars’ at the moment - the entire squad has everything to prove at the start of the new season. The only individual who came close to be worthy of the description is now plying his trade at Barnet FC. The rest either performed in fits n starts or featured in less than half of the fixtures resulting in the club finishing in a very disappointing 16th position or whatever it actually was in the end after the Heed were rightly punished for cheating. Let’s hope that in nine months time we are raving about 5 or 6 ‘stars’ that have enabled the club to reach the end of season play-offs. Time alone will tell - not club or local media bullshit.

Hardly a surprise. Neither is the fact that Williams is fcuked again and awaiting results of yet another scan - does anyone seriously believe that any other NL club would carry an effective passenger well into a second season with zero return for their investment and no realistic prospect of the player ever regaining match fitness and making regular appearances for the club? Only at Pools I’m afraid and only under his buddy Hignett. As and when Higgy shuffles out of his current role you can bet that his successor will readily send Williams packing. Assuming that he actually is on that fabled play as you play contract that is.
