Good committed player deceptively slow.

Nothing deceptive about it.

Unfortunately not. He's a real battler and worth a place in the team as long as there's pace elsewhere in the defence. But one on one in a foot race he's the loser every time.

He'd be fine with Kioso in a back three doing the sweeping up while him and Kerr challenge for the ball.

He's had good games and real stinkers. I personally wouldn't have kept him but not upset that he's staying. We've undoubtedly had worse defenders in recent years. Wonder how Laing and Harrison are doing these days.

I must admit early season I thought he looked a bit of a cart horse but he seemed to win people over with some committed displays. You need squad players I suppose.

Yes not overwhelmed by this one.

He is committed although is one of the slowest players i've witnessed at Pools for a long time.

His strategy for players running at him seems to be showing them inside to such a degree that it ends up looking like it wasn't even his responsibility to deal with them in the first place.

Agree with the comments above regarding Kioso being in the back 3.

I doubt we signed him as a first choice, can also fill in at left back and doubt he on a massive wage.

Presume squad wise were currently looking something like:

-----------?------------
Kioso-----Kerr-----?-----?
----Holohan-----?--------
--?----Hawkes----James
-------Kabamba---------

Subs from:
Catterick
Cunningham
Muir
Richardson
Bale
Kitching
Anderson

Always admired him for his willingness to throw his body on the line, take a hit and go in again and again

Always worried the amount of times he finds himself in a situation where he has to throw his body on the line and take a hit, again and again!

Some interesting views.

My reading of the Hignett blog last week suggested that we are not on a high enough budget to match the top teams in the league and a placing around the middle of the table is acceptable. With a good run and teamwork we may just about make the play offs.

So on that basis I doubt Anderson is "cheap" and expect his wage will match other first choice defenders.

Would think if Magnay and Donaldson sign up that would leave 8 defenders and unlikely to add any more except if we are offered a much better player.

Would think selection order would be Kioso, Donaldson, Kerr, Anderson, Kitching, Cunningham, Magnay, Richardson if they all sign up so first choice he looks.

Hignett has said if we don’t make the play offs he expects to be sacked. I don’t think mid table is even an option.

The club has invested in a new strength coach so I am hoping we are looking a lot fitter n stronger this season which could win us a few fair extra points.

An OK signing but no more than that, I thought Higgy could do better tbh but Ando a is reliable squad player and if saving cash here means that more is available for quality attacking players then Im happy with that.
