Am I missing something here?

I have just heard on the news that Teresa May said Britain will offer France it’s ‘full support’ after the fire.

It’s a building, bricks and mortar. It will be restored to look exactly like it did. Most historic buildings when you visit seem to have suffered fires at some point.

Nobody got hurt, none of the artwork was destroyed yet people are going on like some massive tragedy has occurred.

I don’t recall the French offering help when the Wesley combusted.
To be fair PJ, if she hadn’t offered assistance and fine words you’d have slagged her off for that too.

That would have been on about page 50 of current things you could slag this government off for!

Seriously though what assistance are you going to give, send a few roofers over?

If Tim Martin wasn't such a twatflap frightened of forriners, he could turn it into a Wethershits.

You should see French TV - well, not really but...
This is a bigger national tragedy than the Bataclan, Nice, and Charlie Hebdo combined.
A FUCKING CHURCH CAUGHT FIRE and NOBODY was hurt.

Macron declares 7 days' worldwide mourning.

You couldn't make it up.

It's had a good innings, sold a few novels, but it's no Freddy Mercury.

'Manu' really is a snivelling shit. Desperate to champion something to make up for his abysmal failure to cope with the gilet jaune. Being the hardest EU leader on Brexit, rebuilding Notre Dame and attacking the unemployed are all part of his reelection campaign.

He’s all swagger. Arrogance personified.
Trouble is, the French have seen through him.

I’m starting a hashtag

#saveathechurch

I demand constant thanks, plus gratification in some form that I’m not sure of yet.

The funds set up to raise money to save this cathedral are nothing more than savings accounts and they would be nothing without me.

They have already had about £300,000,000 pledged including nothing from the Catholic Church, it only needs a new roof, they might have enough to stick a gift shop as you leave on and one of those photo shops you get when you come off rides with captures from the confession booth.

There is one easy way to prevent all this sort of thing happening and to prevent the vast cost of keeping so called historic buildings going and that is to knock them all down.
Problem solved in one.
Next????
Well here's an idea............stop the worldwide manufacture of knives, that would stop a few stabbings and the cost of investigating them.
Wanna reduce death on the roads.........simple............stop making cars, lorries, buses etc. Plus the added bonus of helping the environment as well as reducing the cost of policing protest marchers and their subsequent arrest.
Close all football stadia and prevent disasters inside them.
Hang every single prisoner in this country, cutting the cost of incarcerating them as well as reducing the cost of prisons. Oh sod it, do it worldwide.
I was going to suggest closing all the pubs but that would be silly and taking the problem a bit too serious.

Maybe because they don’t actually own it. It’s owned by the French Ministry of Culture. So I suspect they’re just tenants and they don’t charge for entry as it’s a place of worship, unlike the greedy churches over here.
