Poolsworld Service?

Had an email to say Pools will no longer be using the IFollow platform next season and that my next payment for Poolsworld will be my last. I presume they club are just switching providers and that the same great content etc will still be available next season?

It could be that it's a loss-maker for the club. Don't think they've ever said how many subscribers there are but I wouldn't be surprised if the figure is in the low hundreds.

Simpson is just going to do it all, they are increasing his salary from £450k to £700k.

Surely that has to be after tax.

I think they were tied in to the EFL platform from before. I'd be happy to pay the same money for a service that only had commentaries, the highlights or lowlights are available elsewhere faster anyway. Hopefully Pools are planning to provide their own stuff direct to fans and keep all the money to pay a hefty bonus to the media guru.

I could set up a system where you phone me at 14.55 and I do commentary of the match, no charge, if we get hatcam details from that bloke in China, we could get visuals

Great offer Mr CJ. I get free international calls through my work phone package so that could be the answer if the whole thing shuts down. No eating pies when you're meant to be commentating though and you have to get Brian Honour to stand nerxt to you and chip in every now and then.

I'll pay you by postal order made out in francs if that is OK.

Poolsworld service has been very poor this season and not worth the money for me. Have missed a lot of home games this season for one reason so its been a bit of a lifeline for me but away games coverage is not worth having ?

It’s not really Pools fault, a lot of the grounds don’t have IDSN lines that enable multiple live broadcasts so they can’t do live commentary from such venues.

ISDN lines are so 1980’s... surely these away grounds have WiFi? Trust pools to be using equipment so old and pretty useless. The away commentary via a mobile phone, although better than no commentary, is shockingly bad quality I don’t bother anymore.

Apparently a member of the associated press clips an IPhone to his cap and live streams the game around the world to someone.

I’m pretty up on my tech, but this is next level stuff

I'm surprised the new proposed service is set to be free. I thought all avenues of income generation needed to be explored. Not that I'm complaining, just not used to getting anything for free anymore.

I'll sign up to Pools lottery with the money saved.
