I blame Luke Williams

I have just read this in Hartlepool Mail and they described him as an attacking midfielder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Unwarranted and excessive exclamation marks seem to be the way forward in this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I blame Luke Williams for the 'niggly knee problem' that has kept Conor Newton sidelined ever since he got shouted at by Pools fans at the Boxing Day match at Gateshead.

Hope Hawkins gets himself a promotion medal at Spennymoor; he's a trier at least.

Nothing good about him as a player apart from his attitude and work ethic really I’m not sure what he even is as a midfield player he’s done well to survive as a pro footballer for 8 years. Not good enough, he had a good spell when he first got into the team but hasn’t improved at all or got near that level again. Over 100 games and scored in one of them which is terrible.

Hopefully next season we might have a proper midfield with attributes you need to win games at this sort of level.

being a trier is the minimum requirement of any player. you need much more than that and i suppose all on here if they pulled on a pools shirt would try until they collapsed just after the kick off.

My reference to Hawkins being a trier was a not very subtle comparison with Newton, who has now been out for ages with a knee niggle.

It doesn't mean I think Hawkins has a future at Pools - when Money recalled him from his loan spell at York I remember saying on here that it was a waste of time because Hawkins is "a bits and pieces player at best." Still, there's never been anything wrong with his attitude - which is more than you can say for quite a long list of players who've been here in the last 3 or 4 seasons.

He ran and he ran and he ran and he ran....we had a dog like that, it wasn’t much of a footballer either.
We had to have him put down in the end....the dog that is. sadx
