Just been reading about Sam Muggleton on loan from Chesterfield at Darlo who suffered these injuries on Saturday;

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.derbys ... 603077/amp

I can’t recall a worse football injury, maybe David Busst for Coventry at Old Trafford back in the day but a fractured femur alone is a rare and terrible injury, I think I have read before that it’s about the worst bone you can break in terms of healing that’s before you get to his knee which sounds horrific. Poor lad it’s like something you would suffer in a car crash not on my a football pitch. You’d have thought he’d do well to play again.

The recovery period from an ACL alone is about 12 months for a pro. It’s a gruelling process that’s Long and hard. (Been doing some work with a few people recovering from them)

Throw in the other knee injuries he’s suffered plus the femur and god knows how long it’s going to take him to get back playing, if it all, at any level.

Poor sod.

I broke my fib and tib playing footy and spent 16 weeks in plaster hip to toe, but far worse was a ligament injury (work related) and that was painful.

Nasty, but not the career threatening injury it may have been in the past. As usual any physiotherapy involves having the right mindset and not rushing the rehabilitation, otherwise there is a good chance of another injury very soon after any comeback. Lets hope he makes it back.

I’d not seen it. I don’t think you have either.

About 5:20 in here; https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.derbys ... 600906/amp

Absolutely nothing in or wrong with the challenge the Darlo lad has a poor touch then tries to strike the ball the Southport player gets to the ball first. Its not even a challenge it’s a straightforward interception. It’s a foul by the lad who got so badly injured. Not sure about any reaction you can’t see much apart from concern from players on both sides when they realise how badly injured he is.

It looks like one of those freak injuries caused by the fact he was running at pace and added momentum by trying to strike a ball he was late for with power. Horrible. All of those knee injuries individually are serious he has done them all at once that’s without mentioning his femur which is also a rare for football and very serious injury. I find it hard to believe how he’ll play again.

It is a bad challenge from the lad who got injured, no intent as he’s trying to recover a bad touch but it’s him kicking the Southport player that is the impact that causes the terrible injury. He’s been fouled and reacts obviously without realising the severity of his injury. What is wrong with the Southport players challenge he intercepts the ball?

You can see his leg crumple, it's not a malicious challenge from either player and it's the darlo lads swing that causes the injury, without knowing what was said I'd guess the defender's reaction was probably more to do with the late kick he'd just received after he won the ball. He wouldn't of known the damage the darlo lad had done to himself at the time.

That's my take on it anyway. Irrelevant really, hope the lad is able to recover.

Agree with PJ and crab, darlo player commits the foul, defender reacts cos he just been booted and obviously didn't know he was badly injured.

Just one of those things
