Just listened, I liked it , a good idea. If the club are open and honest, and answer questions, then people won't have to second guess. Maguire comes across well , as I would expect from someone tasked with pulling the club up off the bottom by the scruff of its neck.

Great bit of listening, specially when you consider it is their first try at a podcast. I thought the section from 38 minutes on when they explained what has happened with Luke Williams' injuries and a bit about the wage structure etc was very interesting. Great idea to pick up issues from message boards and social media and deal with them directly but with more than a blunt statement.

Maguire's comments earlier on about the new regime having an 18 month plan to turn things around are also worth a listen. It's clear - and always has been really - that they've been building towards a promotion winning side for NEXT season - realistic, as they took over a club with hidden debts and only half a squad that could even hold its own in the NL.

That's not to say don't think a play-off push is on this season if results in the league pick up again, but they're not counting on it. Bad news for the Matty Bates haters - his job is safe.

I really enjoyed it and I think it's a great idea. For a first attempt I say well done to all involved. They have set a very high standard and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Turning club around in 18mths is one thing, promotion is another. I do look forward to the close season when we get rid of the half of the squad not able to hold their own in the NL. In meantime I fail to see how we can get into the play offs with half a squad not able to hold their own in the NL.

As for Bates, his critics know his job is safe, even if we ended up in a relegation fight, thats one of the main reasons people are critical of him.

Anyway big month ahead for the club and Bates, plenty of winnable games, we need to win at least 4 out of 6 of them.

I imagine the newly formed 24 man strong full time staffed podcast department dealt with this multi million pound production.

Not a Durham uni student in sight.

Come on man - I said they TOOK OVER a club with hidden debts and and only half a squad :-)

Obviously a lot of dead wood has been got rid of and better players brought in, but it's clear to anyone who goes to games that Pools are still short of quality in some areas. Very likely there'll have to be another churn of players next close season to build a squad that is one of the favourites for promotion.

And I seriously doubt that Bates would survive a prolonged relegation fight this season, given that he's got a much better group of players at his disposal than last year.
My crystal ball sees a better season for us than that - fine if yours doesn't.

Bruno the star of the show for me. He deserves Williams' £2k a week wages.

I think for continued success, the podcast will require regular input from the fans otherwise it's just 4 men and a dog discussing the same things everyone else is.

I think they got the mix between Pools and general football topics about right, as for suggestions maybe get Raj and Jeff on as special guests if possible. I also wonder if they could reveal more about previous mismanagement of the club?

Brilliant and open...............Think its now time to sit down on good ship Hartlepool United and enjoy the journey or get out your tiny dingy blow it up and 4coff to support Darlo Spenny or whoever else you want. Its cringe worthy to accuse the club of signing Williams out of friendship and worse to ridicule the player simply because he got injured...Its sport it happens get over it and better still support the lad because he is going to be an absolute gem of a player for us. The good times are coming that you can be sure of  Like I told you all at the start of the season the Hignett effect is taking place here and now and will not stop even when we are promoted back to the football league

Not sure if it was the podcast or mail where Bates says he's answered the critics by drawing with Gillingham.
Get back into the top 7 after New Years Day and still be in both the FACup n Trophy would be the more appropriate way to answer the so called critics.

Episode 2 was equally insightful.

Opens the door on some of the mess they’ve had to pick up from the previous regime, why Michael Woods left and some future plans.

Thought it was very good but blaming the ref for the additional time i dont think so. Magnay stuck his arm up!

Hignett was the same as manager, it was always the fault of someone else.

Mark's always asking for suggestions by email...

I'm sure if Money is on it he'd answer sensible questions, from what I've seen he's pretty open and after his recent comments he surely has to back that up by promoting positivity with the fans.

They may well be right but its suicidal allowing Money to slag off the fans who is that going to win over?

Money is sounding like Dave Jones II, he was earning good money in China before he came here etc etc

100% this

He’s spot on with what he’s saying

If you’re at the game chanting for the manager to be sacked after 6 games I think that says more about you than what’s happening at pools

Where did I say he was wrong?

I said it be a total lead balloon with the majority of fans and it is going to alienate the people he wants to bring onside

Why not play some attacking football if you want to bring the fans onside you got nothing to lose this season?

It’s all well saying play some attacking football but I seriously doubt if Bates or Money has sent out a team at home not to play on the front foot and not boss the game. The squad lacks creativity and pace, I am not sure how people expect the Money to transform the teams style of play in a matter of weeks with the same players available.

You haven't seen us in about 3 months.

The squad has the makings of a good team as it showed v Gateshead (home) which he then dismantled for the next game.

Playing Carl Magnay in mf is hardly looking to play on the front foot against a team second bottom of the league and leaving him on for 88 mins.

How come Hignett managed to play decent attacking football when he was in charge for 2 games?
