Disgraceful ! what is it with the British and their obsession with binge drinking?. I bet his missus wasn't happy, he will be paying for it now.

People think you're gay or an undercover cop if you don't swear in Hartlepool

They have a funny attitude to what counts as 'intoxicated' in some parts of America.

A friend of a friend went out there for a wedding do, and had a few beers as you do. Quite late on he was feeling peckish, and because they didn't have a kebab shop handy he decided to walk to the nearest 24/7 KFC drive through, which was about a mile up the road.

As no one walks anywhere in America apparently, a passing police car thought he was no good and stopped him. They asked him what he'd been drinking etc (standard British wedding do gauge by all accounts), and decided that he was some kind of alcoholic monster and arrested him.

They banged him up for the night, and he had to wear orange overalls, which are reserved for mental health patients. They just couldn't get their heads round the fact that British people routinely drink more than the average Yank, and would consider walking more than the length of their drive to get in their car.

They probably thought he was mad for not just driving as drink driving commonplace over there due to the none walking thing, and any self respecting Brit could pass that sobriety test after a decent session.

I'm not sure he is to be honest, he just seems a fairy normal quiet lad to me. He married the lass he met at school and doesn't appear to have changed a lot, all of his misdemeanours over the years have been pretty minor and never seen anyone else come to harm unless you include 'auld slapper  ' when he was just a kid. This is a none story really, it amounts to him being fined £20. I actually think Rooney has always come across alright, he clearly loves the game it's not his fault how much he's been payed for playing over the years.

Ha! That sounds like the so called land of the free. I'm assuming your friend wasn't black, otherwise he would of got it with both barrels, literally
