...featured on thr front of the Echo this morning for the so called 'Teees Valley'. All the authorities will impose a business tax to pay for it and it will run from Darlington to Saltburn via Stockton and Middlesbrough , in fact everywhere in the area except ........Hartlepool who is expected to share the cost for the 'greater good' and get nowt...although they did say we may get something in the future  None of the benefits, all the costs.

This pssed me off when I read about it a few months back.

The bolox that they tried to justify it with was that it would "eventually" be connected to Hartlepool so therefore we should contribute now.

Will it fk be connected to Hpool, and if it ever is then it won't be soon.

Anybody remember Sunderland getting similarly screwed over with the Tyne & Wear Metro that they paid for yet it took about thirty years for them to be given a limited service after they'd paid for Newcastle to get their fancy system?

Either the plans should be for Hpool to be in Phase 1 otherwise we shouldn't pay a penny towards it until Phase 2.

Fortunately for us our council aren't soft enough to let this happen though.

Does anyone fancy going halfs on a new build house with me? I'm going to build a great big mansion just over the road from you and if you pay half you can stop in one of the outhouses occasionally but not for about 30 years. In the meantime I'll have a lovely new house which you can look over the fence at.

I hope it'll have later and more regular service to Saltburn then!

We have enough of a problem getting the trains to stop here.

I think you will find the residents of Billingham will join in the anti Super Tram lobby.

This was touted by Cleveland County Council years ago, along exactly the same route and said Hartlepool would be included later.... then did the sums and offered ...wait for it.... 'super bus stops' in the centre of Hartlepool that would show when the next bus was due ( before they were vanadalised) instead of a tram link :roll:the important point is...like Ripper poimted out about the Tyneside metro, wherever the new line goes, prosperity follows. They also mentioned Nunthorpe as well as Hartlepool for the later branch line...but as this would go past James Cook hospital, guess what would get the nod first?
