Think we will win this one. Not the beginning of a good run or an end to our problems, just a random win, against a team I think we are probably playing at a good time.

1-3 win for us

I'm with Horden on this one. Bromley 0 Pools 1 Featherstone 1950 Pools 104. Letting the leaders gather the points while we win here and there which gives Matthew Bates mathematically at least the option of saying we will be up there.

Few goals, Bore draw, 1-1 Muir with ours, More points dropped, Win would be nice though keep us up there.

Congratulations to the pair of you for what might be a Bunker first - talking down an away win before it happens. Personally I'm struggling to see a draw at Orient and a narrow defeat with 10 men at Wrexham, both top 3 sides, as evidence that Pools are in this league to make up the numbers. The home loss to Sutton is galling because they will definitely be in the mix for a play off place at the end of the season - as will Pools.

Granted Pools haven't currently got the squad to be a contender for automatic promotion, but the right noises are being made about new signings and the idea that a target of finishing seventh or above at the end of the season is suddenly out of reach is just daft. Get into the play offs on the back of a run of good form with confidence high and Pools are potentially 2 games from a Wembley appearance and 3 games from promotion. I'll settle for that.

Meanwhile, Bromley 1- Pools 1.

Pretty sure Sutton have beaten orient and Wrexham this season so they are no mugs even if the defeat was disappointing. 0-1 to pools dinanga with the goal.

Well said MDKMF. But a few more defeats and the target of 7th or above will start to look daft - and we will miss Woods on Saturday - but I'm going for 2-1 to Pools - Niko and Anderson.

Horden started the thread and predicted Pools would win 3-1. I agreed with him and said so and went for a 1-0 win. My subsequent comment was of course mine and in no way attributed to Horden or his views. Maybe I did'nt put it too clearly but what I meant was if we win, we win but the way things have been going at the top we are slowly slipping on account of other teams being more consistent. I think this will be the case for the forseeable with a win followed by more negative results. Hence the Matthew Bates prediction. Loved to be proved wrong on the second part of my post but if Horden and myself are both right (score might not be the same) then I will be delighted. "Talking down an away win before it happens?". No, just basically saying we are not as consistent as the leaders - at the moment.

It depends what you mean by "being up there." Getting enough wins to stay in touch with the play off places is the first order of business and if Pools do that there's nothing 'mathematical' about it, for Matty Bates or anyone else. There's only one automatic promotion place and there's really no prizes for coming second or third in the division other than one less game to play than the team that comes seventh. Tranmere finished 9 points clear in second a couple of seasons ago and didn't go up; last year Boreham Wood had a day out at Wembley for finishing fourth. Anything can happen with play offs.

Pools have had a tough run of fixtures recently and not done great. It's not the end of the world. If the players were as disheartened as some of our fans we'd be in big trouble, but judging by the Wrexham performance they're not.

2-0 win for us, Noble and Muir

They get a man sent off six minutes into injury time though which means we should have won 4-0

Back to being a laughing stock again, can't score can't defend can't create, it's just not good enough. I honestly hoped for something different this season but it's just the same old story. We must be the most shit on fans in this country, absolutely nothing to shout about in 10 years,it's no wonder the Vic is negative.

I'm rarely one for calling for a manager's head but the next three league games are Barnet at home, currently 0-2 to Maidstone, bottom of the table Dover away, and Fylde at home. Anything less than seven points from those and serious questions need to be asked.

Just seems like we've got one system, and if it's not working or creating, which it hasn't been for weeks, we've not got any sort of a plan B.

Mid table mediocrity beckons.

Consistent obscurity thereafter...

Don't fret guys, its just another bad day at the office, what do we fans know - the official line is that no-one at the club is remotely concerned about the current minor blip.

Don't panic, Don't Panic.

We will in and around the Playoffs at the end of the season. As Bates will say.

Never mind a new striker. New Manager for Christmas please.

Get rid of him now - can't see it getting any better soon - home gates will be down - costs the club money and we can't afford that!

'beckons' Blue? We have been mid table standard all season. Drawing at home or 1 goal wins against weak teams is not what promotion seeking teams produce. When I pointed that out I was the most critcised poster (where is PJ now?) so I feel entitled to have my say now.

Listened to the live commentary and we seemed to dominate for most of the game yet get dicked 4-0. We don’t have anyone who can just pull the f....ng trigger!!!

Exactly RAY52, the inability to score well enough has been evident all season; even against Kidsgrove.
Strange when we have an England C team international forward!

Penalties dried up and so did the wins.

Presuming kioso will get more than a 1 game ban cos of so many yellow cards too?

Gillingham banging them in for fun at the moment, could be a long day.

Ah well. I went for 1-0 win. Apologies for getting that wrong and crowd and scorer. Blasted for comments made about the leaders getting away (which they are). The trend has developed over the past few weeks. That's four league matches in a row now while the teams determined to leave this league get the points on board or salvage one last minute. Pools escape from Leyton Orient goalless and today....Poolie mentioned the excuses. I was looking for we pick ourselves up etc. We now have "we need to recover quickly." "It wasn't our day." No Matty it wasn't. Just the performance to help nudge the crowds back to the 3,000 plus level. Anyway, there always the Gills next week. Should be a long trip down to Kent. No predictions from me on this one.

Tony Toms would have probably said "OK lads. You are living on your wits in Kent for a week off the land and turn up next Saturday for the Gills match keen, raw and willing to go." Threats to either win or walk back home should do the trick. Then go all the rest of November and December unbeaten and catch the leaders. Simples. Sorted. Boy, sorry person. These refred refyellow refyellow refyellow pills are strong.

“It wasn’t our day" = 'A bad day at the office'. I certainly haven't been among those calling for Bates head but if this is the best that he can offer following today's abject embarrassment for the club, fans & town then maybe it is time that Raj started looking elsewhere before this 'blip' in form becomes a slippery slide to the nether regions of the NL. Not that Mr Singh is blameless either, its been obvious for over a month now that Bates squad was desperately in need of strengthening both in midfield and upfront.

Lots of media talk has taken place since then regarding ex-'Premiership strikers' and associated tosh but sweet FA in terms of action. The predictable 'lack of funds' and 'austerity is not over at HUFC' referenced by Stelling and co may well represent the unpalatable truth - but if so i would ask which numpty made the decision to sign up the terminal sicknote that is Luke Williams on a doubtless lucrative deal for this level, thus tying up critical funding? We were promised honesty and visibility from Singh, Stelling and Hignett pre-season but there seems to be precious little of that emanating from the club at present. Yet again the downtrodden but must loyal fans in the country are being treat like shit despite putting their faith in one of their own and also buying into Raj Singh's ambitions for the club - whatever they may be.

Actually there's someone worse off than us. Chesterfield. Not won a game since August and as recently as 2015 were in the League One playoffs. You see, there's always somebody has it worse. It's a kind of consolation.

Fair point , but I'm with RichyHpool on this one. Chesterefield as you say were in the play offs in 2015, and won the league 2 title in 2014, can't remember us doing that. Its been a steep decline for them, but still not as bad as supporting us.
