First round is the weekend of the 15th December. The third round qualifying ties take place on the weekend of the 24th November so I imagine our draw will be that Sunday/Monday.

Prioritising the league is very fashionable. Excitement for the fans, writing a chapter in the club's history and picking up a cash boost is just so last decade.

Seeing as how it's a decade since Pools did anything remotely memorable in any cup competition (beating Stoke in the FA Cup 3rd Round) that's certainly true for Pools.

The FA have doubled the prize money so even this game is worth 25 grand to the winner.
Lets get as much money as possible as allways when it comes to the FA Cup

I was all set for us to be the main billing on the evening's highlights after that game but IIRC Notts Forest beat Man City 3-0 later that afternoon.

Was a superb goal from Foley, like.

I reckon that was Micky Nelson’s best ever performance in a Pools shirt it was Stokes first season in the Premier League playing Tony Pulis’s brand of total football at the time none of the top flight could deal with Rory Delaps throw in we just got Nelse to stand virtually on the bye line and at times off the pitch then attack and head away every one, he scored the other goal as well I think.

I rank that Foley goal amongst the best I've ever seen at Pools. The fact Baby David picked up the ball 40 yards out, skipped past two "Premiership" players then rocketed a shot into the top corner stunned me to silence before I went absolutely mental. I was behind the goal, and the whip he got on that ball was amazing, but the replays never do it justice.

Hugh Robertson's 2 Free kicks for me against Blackpool

If I remember correctly Hugh put both free-kicks in, virtually, the same place. The first one right in the top corner and the second in off the underside of the bar. I think first was disallowed because their wall wasn't ten yards, which seemed to me at the time to be the stupidest reason to disallow a goal ever. God, how I miss players like Hugh now!

Anyone lucky enough to see Robertson's dead ball prowess will always have fond memories, though the truth is he didn't play that many games for Pools - not even a full season's worth.

Looking to the future, I'm much happier watching the likes of Davies, Kioso, Noble, Muir and James after putting up with the ineptitude of last season, with players as poor as Harrison, Laing, Adams, Oates and Rodney turning out regularly for Pools. Got to believe we have finally turned a corner!

They certainly have I seen the league a few days back, Have they still got Julio Arca? If so hell off a left foot for their league.

No Arca retired at the end of last season I believe

8 tier i believe. The question is do we play our best side and include a few from the bench?
Given the next league match is 7 days later i would go for an unchanged line up with earlier subs if anyone is not performing or is carrying a knock.

I think we probably could get away with a weak side for this one, however personally I don't see why clubs don't just put their strongest team out , go out all guns blazing , go 2 or hopefully 3 up , then take likes of Davies, Noble, Donaldson off at half time. I think Bates will want a cup run, I'm sure Raj will, so reckon there will be only a few changes tops, certainly Davies could be rested and possibly James, though with James its a good game to bag a brace or hat trick which would be good for him.

One thing that is unthinkable, is a replay down there, we don't want that at any cost.

It takes a brave man to suggest a weakened side after the experiences of the past five years.

The non(er)-league teams were all hoping for Pools in the draw. We're perennial cannon fodder.

Never beyond 4th round in 110 years of existence is unbelievable when you think about it.

I would like us to put a strong team out, and see what transpires, get through to next round, and get Sunderland, what a great day and monie maker that would be for the club.

Also you get 25 Grand for getting to next round,. just had a quick look and there is a few £££ to be had, even for a couple of results in FA Cup.

considering the Shit this club has been in RE: finances

Be a good match to watch that, I went there a few seasons ago nice welcoming club, Plus didn't we get Scott Fenwick from there? He's banging them in for Chelmsford City now in the national league south.

Be a dream draw that, Would you like it home or away? I remember been in the stadium off light on a cold January night with 10000 poolies around me and my dad, Great Memories. We hammered them that night to as well if it wasn't for Mart Poom in goal, We would off won that.

Shittt I didn't think it was that long like, Was that the Man Utd game where they won us at the Vic in 58 I think it was? (Correct me if I'm wrong) I'm not to bothered about the cups to Be honest I'd rather concentrate on getting into the top 7 and getting back to the football league , But still it would be nice if we get Sunderland in the First or Second round in the F.A cup that's if we win in the first round then there's more of a chance of getting them , That would be a money maker for certain , Or even Dare I say it get Darlo in the F.A trophy at home the Vic would be bouncing would be packed 7000 plus. Good old days.
