TBF on Mothering Sunday, you should visit your priest/vicar in your Mother church. Card companies made us do it for Mams, I apologise for my QI FACT.

As for staff payments it is not a bank/public holiday (see above re Card companies) just a normal Sunday, so employees should be paid at the correct usual rate.

FYI to the Hipsters on here Rum, will be the next Gin.

I am confused as I thought Cabbage was a Dachshund? sctatchinghead

£10.95 is not too much to treat the ladies in our lives, mothers, lovers and wifes on this day.

Think for a moment about the restaurant staff who have had to work and cook and serve for you while you whinge about £2.95

I'm not whimging about anything. The restaurant staff are doing what thousands of people do in their own jobs. If they're being paid a reasonable wage is nothing to do with their customers. Would I eat cheap food ....? No.

Whoaa, I think you are being a bit trigger happy here snowy, no one suggested you would have been whingeing as you never said you were there, the op was whingeing.

I think you both misunderstood why prices go up on special days Mothers day, Easter Sunday & Christmas & New Years day etc as staff get paid more for being there, not pure profiteering as you suggest.

I would be very surprised if any restaurant pays staff extra for working Mother’s Day they might have more staff in but pay them extra, not a chance

Why would they be paying staff extra working on a normal Sunday I don't begrudge paying extra to take the folks out I find it a liberty to have a sign and when I say sign I mean a A4 sheet on counter that you could easily miss calling it a mother's day special !

What is special about it fair enough if you got a cake or sweet or something to make it a bit special but it was exactly the same as every time we go, I took 7 so it's a extra 21 notes and there was much bigger parties than mine

How about appreciating the fact that Sambuca's is normally so cheap? We go in there for lunch before the match on Saturdays. I don't know how they manage to make a profit on the lunch specials.

Basically, all the retailers boost prices at these fake manufactured 'special days'. Same bouquet of flowers as usual, add £5 to usual price.

If it is just about a meal, then why not cook something at home for your Mam?

Otherwise you are just taking her out and then complaining about the cost of doing so...

Spent a little more on the meat and had a leg of lamb, just finished the last of it today, Sunday dinner is always much better at home anyway!

Presuming this thread about the Windmill (part of Sambucas chain?) then I went on Sunday and wasnt impressed. Preferred Toby Carvery tbh and that never impresses me either.

6/10.

Try the Blue bells in Newton Bewley, better than those 2, better book though.

Dont go to the Hope & Anchor in Greatham its shut. Shite pub company "Star Inns" haven't been arsed to get a relief manager in.

Had a McDonalds "signature collection classic burger" yesterday which was decent. Unfortunately gave me flatulence later which was quite embarrassing.
