I see passed away the other day. The versatile, modest and underated player in that fantastic Leeds side of the 70's. I admit I loved that team when I was a nipper, he was the Alan Goad/Richie Humphreys of that team, played in every outfield position except goalkeeper and was a loyal servant making 711 appearances....fond memories for me of hot summers and that 7-0 versus Southampton.RIP.

One of my boyhood heroes, went to Pools but Leeds was my team until 75. My first visit to Sid James Park saw Madeley score in a 1-0 win for Leeds in front of 53000 on Boxing Day 73 , never been a crowd as big since. Madeley scored in front of Gallowgate end. Match was supposed to kick off at 2pm due to energy crisis caused by my dad and his mates, but kicked off at 3 as NUFC found an emergency generator.

Evening Ron, away down in Devon ATM, stayed off in Bridgnorth last night to break up the journey, what a cracking place that is, great for a pub crawl, you surely have been there when you were living down that way?, had a pint in the Railwayman's Arms this aft ' on the platform cracking pub.

Proper old fashioned small town with loads of history, stayed in a gaff last night which was built out of old ships timbers in 1580. Place has about 20 cracking pubs but is smaller than Peterlee. Worth a call in if we ever play Kidderminster or Swindon again.
