Rumours are circulating that Wetherspoons have sold King Johns Tavern to Tees Inns or Green King.
Anyone know more about this?

I heard it was up for sale, Wetherspoons are selling of lots of their pubs, mainly the under performing ones. Lambton Worm in Sunderland and Thomas Sheraton , Stockton , Issac Wilson in the boro also up for sale.

Weatherspoons don’t own the building. They are letting the lease run out. This is something they are doing on lots of pubs they don’t own.

Up until about 2 year ago it was the best pint of fosters in town for a good 8 years.
But not the end of the world life goes on.

I was having stroll around Town last week and bought a paper and thought I’d read it with a pint. I am on my holidays after all. I was a bit hesitant though as it was before midday the morally acceptable time to have a pint*

Walked in the King Johns at 11.55am the place was rammed with people like the Cantina scene from from Star Wars and you got the impression that most of the clientele had not just got in! The place itself is looking a little let’s say, tired, to say the least.

*Unless in an Airport.

They spent £60k last year redecorating the place and laid a new carpet, it was all done on nightshift.
