Front man Marcus Dinanga signs on loan from Burton. Nigel Clough seems to rate him as a youngster and has scored a few in the leagues below us

Looks promising, another reason to get excited about this season. Plenty of goal scorers regardless of how much experience they may have at this level.

Maybe not if the plan is to play two up front then you probably need four strikers competing for a start.

Have we had anyone else on a long term loan since Godwin Antwi?

Ledger last season and quite a few others I’d imagine!

Christian Burgess and Andrew Jackson are another two off the top of my head, he could be the first striker for a while!

Can't judge a player until you see him play but the fact that Nigel Clough extended his contract and thinks he might be OK for League 1 in the end is a good sign. I've also been told that Clough is a manager who won't loan players to clubs that don't coach them properly or try to play decent football so its a vote of confidence in the overall Pools approach too.

Really looking forward to this season.

Even though Two of the strikers have scored the goals at a lower level between the four they scored a staggering 79 goals last season:
Caassidy - 7
James -7
Muir -40
Dinanga25
It is hard to imagine teams at this level having a more potent strike force to choose from.

Can’t fault the signings we have made - I sense the difference this year is that we have added more leaders to the squad than the past few years which will make a big difference.

Ideally would like to see a few midfielders off the wage bill next. Would have thought that would give him some flexibility to bring others in if we needed it, plus there will be some struggling to even make the squad on decent wages.

Strange that Clough takes the option to extend his contract for one year and then sends him on loan for a year though!

Not really, just wants to assess him over another season at a slightly higher level. It would have been easier to release him if he didn't rate him

Has Clough got another option on his contract if not he might not have any choice about using him next year. If he bangs them in for Pools his agent will tout him higher than Burton especially as a free agent.

I'm not going if Marcus Dinanga isn't shacking up with Posh Spice by the time of the Accrington friendly.

Assess him for what? It doesn't read like he will be a Burton player next season?

Not that it matters to us.
