Has a bloke ever been more consistently wrong than that Liam Kennedy fella who writes for the Mail?

He’s been intimating we have a tiny budget from the outset and that we won’t be signing anymore players until we sell that we won’t sign anyone for a fee blah blah, either someone is deliberately giving him duff information to make him look stupid or he’s got some sort of agenda because it’s bizzare.

Just look at the tone of this, again completely wrong, article.

‘The Hartlepool Mail understands’

He has said about 3 times we need to sell to get players in, on all occassions a day or so later we have signed someone.

Looking at the photo in that article, I'm really excited we've signed England and Saracens' world class second row, but what position is he going to play?

It’s not just this summer. They’ve been shot for decades. Many articles are surely just computer generated these days aren’t they? It’ll close within a couple of years.

And the ONE most irritating thing of all is their obsession with putting a number in capitals in their headlines. What is the point, do they think we can’t count? The latest is “FOUR points of interest from Hartlepool’s pre-season.”

I can’t wait for the season to start just to stop this desperate journalism. Less then THREE weeks to go!!

Delighted to see latest Mail headline, "Four Positives from Hartlepool's draw with Sunderland" without capitals on the number.

Clearly the Mail journalists do read this board!

The Hartlepool Fail certainly has a lot to answer for especially Liam Kenedy who does not appear to have a clue what is going on at the club.He has been so wrong this year on Transfer Rummours, size of budgets and news from the club. Strikes me because he is so incompetent no one within the club will give him an inkling of what is going on. Come on Mail editors this is a local club for local people so give the club some backing and support instead of the current diffle being printed.

Looking at the way The Mail is produced nowadays he'll mostly just be regurgitating press releases and bits from interviews the club give him or put on the website. On a quiet day he has to make something up so he does a 'FOUR reasons why Pools are shit' type article. Fills the space and knowing anything about either football or writing isn't necessary to be a football writer on 'local' papers like the Mail anymore.

Nick Loughlin got plenty of stick for not going after the previous owners in the Northern Echo but at least he is genuinely interested in Pools and makes the effort to put out something worth reading.

To be fair to Kennedy no one could of expected us to make as many signings as we have. It’s all most a bit worrying as if we are going shit or bust to get back in the league. Hopefully the players coming in haven’t added loads to the wage bill.

If you want to spend money on building a squad its probably best not to broadcast that you have money to spare. It seems sensible to put out the story that you're strapped for cash. Good management by Raj in my view.

To be fair, I suspect that several of the incomers aren't on huge wages.... Higgy/Bates have taken a punt on one or two who might be, but as well we've signed players from lower down looking to progress, or players who have local connections (James, Davies) and who might welcome the opportunity to be back nearer home. In the case of James in particular, you get the feeling that he's looking to get his career back on track after his big move failed to work out - I doubt many FL Clubs were interested, so if you're going to drop to this level why not come home?

It's one of these things where we'll only know a few weeks into the season how it's all working out, but the basic idea looks sound to me: should some of the up and coming players start catching the eye, we might have clubs in League 1 or even the Championship having a look, and that could help balance the books. The difference from a few years back when we signed the likes of Orrell and others is that we're picking up players who have some experience already, rather than just Academy castoffs who've barely played a competitive game - the likes of Kioso might have been through one, but having spent time in Non-League since he should have that harder edge now.

It’s almost like a few have missed what actually happened at Pools over the last few years and actually believe the club was in the position it was because we were over stretching the wage bill!!

Maybe... we're just living within our budget now without someone else taking money out or giving it to other people as "fees"?
