After seeing the feast of extra fun that this technology has brought to the World Cup I'd love to see it in the Banannarama National League next season. However, costs would be excessive unless a cheaper version could be used.

I have an idea. Instead of grown men dressed up as refs watching the TV in a different city I'd go for fans recording action on their phones. When the ref makes a telly sign the first three nutters over the fence get to show him their clips and shout in his face. The ref then makes a final decision and buys whoever showed him the deciding video a pint.

Obviously there are some potential drawbacks but nobody was worried about that with the World Cup VAR system so why should we give a shit?

Not everyone has camera phones so how about te nearest 3 fans describe what they saw to the ref for him to make his opinion from, that is effectively what VAR is before an 'official review'.

Why not just have the ref toss a coin when he is unsure and we can bet on it using our phones via a new app called "poolie tosser"?

Great ideas! Can I add the use of the Flying Refbot*

Basically a swarm of drones that were unwanted Christmas presents pick up a porky former ref such as Jeff Winter and hover him over the penalty area during corners. Any illegal grappling and he gets dropped on the offender. Effectively a death penalty.

*TM I think FIFA might be keen on this and I'm not getting ripped off like the Brazilian bloke who invented disappearing lines at free kicks.

Could be pricey luring him away from his contract with the Chinese. Could you use one of your duts with a stolen clamp from a school chemistry lab?

Imagine trying to get in the stadium with a Bunson Burner! School aged me used to think they'd play a much more important part in my life.

in the tin pot non league scene they,d have a guy with a box brownie sat in the stand taking pictures and having to go into town to get em developed before the game can be re started.
