I saw the Spaniards pointing the ref to the linesman before the tv cut to Iran's celebrations so suspected it would be ruled out. Imagine how deflating that must have been thinking they'd scored before finding out almost a minute later that it didn't count. I thought they did well to keep going and create a few more chances after that.

I believe VAR could be good but not as it is now, the linesman is there to do a job, he actually made the right call in this instance and in the majority of cases they do a good job. If they're not going to use VAR for pushing defenders in the back to score like the Brazil game or wrestling attackers to the floor like in the England game, what is the point of it? It's surely meant to increase consistency in decision making but it's created more issues than it's solved.

I don’t think it’s getting shit it’s just a different sport almost to back in the day I haven’t much desire for a return to seeing people get snapped in half and thugs like Vinny Jones earning a living out of the game the players are athletes now the likes of Harry Kane are tee total male sure they get the best results physically they can. You don’t really see any of them in papers for the wrong reasons apart from if The Sun don’t like your tatoo. You see even someone like Salah miss a matter of weeks training and look way off the pace being thrown back into action. Their are aspects of the past in the game I prefer buts it’s not all worse.
