Can I start with ' Up where we belong'.
NO club, no matter how big, belongs at the top, you earn the right to be there by having sugar daddy owners or sheer graft.
There's nothing worse than a so called 'big' club nose diving out of the big time with self pitying fans looking forward to the past. You are where you are.

“Dreamed of playing for this club” - generally said by South Americans who had no idea Burnley was a place before they signed for them

It was important to score that first goal and they've done it.

"saved by the post or crossbar" - if the ball hits the post or crossbar then it was not going in the goal - so it was not saved - it was a near miss

My pet hate is “he doesn’t know what his best starting eleven is.” Your best starting eleven has to take in so many factors for whatever the next game is so I can never take that statement seriously, although maybe it’s more of a lazy argument than a ridiculous statement

"front foot"

"square ball"

When I played, my feet were side by side and the ball was definitely round

Ron Atkinson came out with loads of shit that other people started to regurgitate, the worst one is when referring to flick-ons when he said the player had 'got eyebrows on it'.

What sort of fucking neck must they have to twist their head upwards to flick it on with their eyebrows?

"Goals change games". Not wrong but passing it off as some sort of profound insight seems weird.

Liam Donnelys statement after signing For Motherwell,
Motherwell's a massive club. How well they did last season was unbelievable. I want to kick on with the lads this year and hopefully improve on it."

Average crowd just over 5500, finished 7th in the league and a few points separated them from the top 5.

I honestly think that if Scotland, provided that we play a reasonable form at all, we will qualify and I think a medal of some sort will come and I pray and hope that it is the gold one. (Ally Macleod, 1978)

Teams or squads are now know as ‘Groups’
